Rotherham, Here I Come! (Post #1854)

Hello my darling darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-loving ballerina, Emma, here, and I'm bursting with excitement because, guess what? I'm on a grand adventure to the wonderful town of Rotherham!

Now, you all know my passion is for all things ballet, but there's a secret that I've been dying to share: I have a thing for trains. Don't get me wrong, I love a good horseback ride, but there's just something about the rhythmic chugging, the view from the window, the feeling of travelling towards a new adventure… pure magic, darling! So, as you can imagine, the journey from Derbyshire to Rotherham was a delight.

The sun was shining, the countryside was a vision of green and gold, and I even saw a family of deer scampering through a field - such a lovely start to the day! I couldn't resist capturing a picture of the deer (they were posing so gracefully!), and you can find it on my Instagram (if you don't follow me already, darling, what are you waiting for?! 😉)

Upon arriving in Rotherham, I knew instantly that this was a place where I was meant to be. It's just brimming with life, with friendly faces, and with something… well, let's just say there's something special about this place!

Rotherham has a very different vibe to Derbyshire, that's for sure. It's more… industrial, I suppose, but there's a real buzz about the town centre, and you can feel the passion in the air.

And what's the best way to tap into the heart of a place, darlings? Through the local art, of course! I went straight to the Rotherham Museum, which boasts an incredible collection of art, sculpture and even historical artifacts. I have to say, the artwork by local artists really moved me. They captured the spirit of this place, with its industrial heritage and its resilience, in a way that I hadn't experienced before.

Of course, no trip to Rotherham would be complete without experiencing the world of dance, and I had heard whispers of a local dance company with a reputation for exceptional work. Now, this may sound silly to some, but I had been dreaming about this moment for weeks: I wanted to wear a vibrant green tutu to this show!

And let me tell you, darling, green is just the colour for this trip! It reminds me of the fresh, open air, of lush fields and vibrant gardens… it just screams Rotherham to me. I managed to find the perfect green tutu, a little vintage one with just the right touch of elegance and sass, and I must say, it was just the ticket for the evening!

The dance show itself was… wow! There's nothing like witnessing talented dancers expressing themselves through movement. The choreography was breathtaking, a whirlwind of energy, grace, and passion. I even felt the urge to get up and dance with them myself - luckily, I restrained myself!

Speaking of dance, I also couldn't resist dropping by a local ballet class, where I got to join some fantastic, friendly people in their love for ballet. They welcomed me with open arms, and I have to say, there's nothing quite like dancing alongside other people who share your passion. The energy in that class was palpable!

But here's the thing, darling, even though the dance was fabulous and the museum was fascinating, the real highlight of my day was something I stumbled upon by accident…

On my way back from the ballet class, I noticed a charming little tea room with tables and chairs nestled in the quaintest little garden. Now, darling, you know me: a true fan of all things pretty, with a touch of whimsy! So I just had to go in, grab a cup of tea, and immerse myself in the loveliness of it all.

The aroma of fresh baked cakes filled the air, and I couldn't resist indulging in a slice of Victoria sponge – absolutely divine! While I sat there, watching the sunlight dance on the leaves, sipping my tea and savouring the delicious sponge, I had a realization: this is the kind of moment that makes life so special!

That, my dear readers, is the magic of travelling - the little unexpected moments that add a touch of sparkle and joy to the journey. It’s about getting lost in the beauty of everyday things, and, of course, always looking for ways to bring a little bit of ballet magic to every moment, even while enjoying a delightful piece of cake!

This little gem of a tea room had such a sweet, cozy, and magical feeling. It made me realize, darling, that the world is truly full of hidden treasures, and sometimes all you have to do is look a little closer!

Tomorrow, I'm going to explore the rest of Rotherham. I have a hunch I’m going to find even more magic waiting to be discovered. And I'm certain that it's going to involve at least one more green tutu moment!

Keep those tutus twirling, darling!

Until next time,

Emma xx
