Thornton Heath Calling! 🩰💖

Hey my beautiful ballet babes!

It's Emma here, back with another post from my little pink world. Today's adventure took me to the ever-so-charming Thornton Heath in Surrey! Now, I know what you're thinking – "Thornton Heath? What on earth is there to do there?" Well, let me tell you, sometimes the most unexpected places hold hidden gems, especially when you're a tutu-loving, pink-obsessed gal like me!

The journey itself was part of the fun. I'd decided to skip the tube this time and hop aboard a lovely old steam train. The clatter and whistle of the old engine felt so much more romantic than the screeching of the underground! As I gazed out the window, the rolling green hills and the picturesque English countryside whizzed past. I imagined myself as a Victorian lady on a grand adventure.

Once I arrived in Thornton Heath, the first thing I did was locate the local cafe for a cup of steaming, sugar-laden chai – essential fuel for a busy ballerina! It had a quirky charm with floral wallpaper and mismatched china – just like a fairy tale.

After my chai fix, I took a wander through the local park. There were lots of kids, laughing and running around like little pink-shoe-wearing cherubs! You wouldn't believe it, but a couple of little boys were even attempting to do some little ballet moves, and I swear I spotted a sparkly, pink-sequined tutu tucked away in a pram! That’s the kind of encouragement I love to see! It’s so exciting to know that my little ballet seed is being planted in the hearts of young children everywhere. Maybe one day we’ll be dancing together at a prestigious theatre or even a street performance – wouldn’t that be amazing?! I'd definitely be ready for the applause!

The real highlight of my trip, however, was my visit to the local equestrian centre. Horses and ballet – what a fabulous combination! These beautiful, powerful creatures share such a deep connection with humans, much like the artistry we experience in the dance world. The moment I stepped into the stables, I was overwhelmed by the scent of hay and the soft neigh of the horses. There’s something so incredibly humbling about spending time with animals like this – they make you feel small yet so important. They remind you that sometimes all you need is the raw power of nature to make you truly feel alive!

Now, you're probably thinking, “Emma, what on earth does all this have to do with a tutu? And how do horses tie into your mission to have everyone wear one?” Well, dear readers, the beauty of life is in the unexpected connections, isn't it? The journey, the sights, the sounds – all of them have something to teach us, just as ballet has taught me so much about grace, resilience, and discipline. These lessons don't only belong on the stage, you see. They blossom in nature, in the whispers of a steam train engine, in the happy shouts of children. They bloom everywhere. Even in Thornton Heath.

And of course, what's a ballet adventure without a little tutu-love? Speaking of which… Remember that adorable vintage shop I told you about a few posts ago? They shipped me my latest obsession – a beautiful vintage German tutu! It's absolutely stunning, with a fluffy skirt of pink tulle and silver accents, just begging to twirl. It arrived just in time for my trip and you can bet I twirled it all over Thornton Heath. I had to share this gorgeous find with all of you!

Of course, I did the obligatory photo shoot – after all, every dancer knows the value of a well-timed picture! I even managed to snag some with the horses. Let’s just say, posing with horses wasn’t my strongest moment. One was particularly mischievous and refused to keep still. I blame him! He was definitely being jealous of my lovely, pink tutu. (What can I say? Even horses know good taste!)

The moral of today's story is: Don't underestimate the power of exploration! It doesn’t have to be glamorous or exotic to be enriching and inspiring. There are magical stories waiting to be discovered in every corner of the world – or, even a place like Thornton Heath. Who would have thought it could be so fabulous? Don’t just dance – travel! Don’t just travel – live!

Until next time,

Emma
