Kettering Calling! (Post #1931)

Hello my gorgeous tutu-loving lovelies! It's your girl Emma, back from another whirlwind adventure, this time with a stop-off in charming Kettering. I mean, what’s a pink-loving ballet enthusiast to do in a place like Derbyshire but head off on an adventure and take in some delightful cultural delights?

This week's travel plans involved a romantic carriage ride! I can't lie, I’m smitten with anything with four legs and a tendency to gallop. Horses and tutus are practically the ultimate fairytale combo! I do confess that the journey was slightly more adventurous than usual thanks to some rather excited sheep who felt compelled to show off their best parkour moves, scaling the fence and bounding onto the tracks. It certainly added a dash of excitement! The driver, bless his soul, was a true professional though. He managed to avoid any unfortunate "ewe" encounters.

Speaking of adventures, did I mention I was sporting a rather delightful new tutu? A masterpiece, crafted from silk and adorned with delicate feathers. A masterpiece that had my heart fluttering faster than a ballerina in a triple pirouette. It’s the epitome of elegance, just a touch more dramatic than my usual choices. I just love when a tutu adds that little extra ‘je ne sais quoi’. You'll have to catch the pics I'm posting on the website this week! They’ll make your eyes pop like pink champagne.

Of course, no visit to Kettering would be complete without a delightful trip to the Kettering Ballet School. You guys have to come, I’m telling you! It's the most vibrant, passionate bunch of ballerinas I’ve encountered, their dedication is breathtaking! There's just such a beautiful synergy of discipline and pure unadulterated love of dance in this school, it makes you just want to twirl in the streets. I've gotta say, Kettering, you've earned a place in my ballerina’s heart for this.

On to the show! We’re talking a mesmerizing rendition of Swan Lake! The whole place had this hushed reverence before it began, a feeling that permeates you as you step through the velvet curtains, you can't help but feel that this was more than just a performance, it was a ritual, an experience. The story danced before us, the grace, the beauty of movement, I was transfixed, transported, for those two hours I was in another world! They were flawless, every turn, every plié, every grand jeté, every flutter of their feathered costumes, I could almost taste the magic, just like you'd want when seeing a performance like that.

As a proud Derbyshire girl myself, I couldn’t resist getting a taste of the local fare. Honestly, if I didn’t love my delicious little pink cupcakes so much, I’d be packing it all in for the traditional Pork Pie. This town takes its pork pies seriously and rightly so, they're more delicious than anything I’ve encountered! If you’re reading this, you simply have to have one, you’re missing out on an important piece of cultural history!

My travels have been pretty exciting, so you might be thinking “Emma, is that the last pink tutu-wearing adventure you've got for us?”, and to that I would say "Not a chance!" Next stop... oh, let's just say... whispers pink

And don't forget you can check out all the fabulous pictures of the Kettering experience on www.pink-tutu.com Keep your eyes peeled for the next post on your journey to getting that perfect pink tutu and making the world dance!

Stay radiant,

Emma xx
