Leith: A Tutu-ful Adventure (Post #1947)

Hello, my darling dears! It's Emma here, your trusty tutu-wearing travel companion, coming to you live from the charming, cobbled streets of Leith! It’s cold, but the sun’s shining, and a crispness in the air reminds me of my favourite season - autumn. I know I've been rambling about Edinburgh for the past few posts, but honestly, it's so full of beautiful places and vibrant energy, it's practically impossible to tire of this city.

So, what brought me to Leith today? Well, it's more than just the seaside charm, although the seagulls squawking in the harbour are always an amusing spectacle. I ventured out today for a ballet class with a difference - a little seaside dance studio, nestled away between quaint little shops, filled with the sweet aroma of seaweed and the salty tang of the sea.

The class itself was truly delightful, a little slower than what I'm used to in London, with a more introspective focus. It allowed me to really dig deep into my movements, connect with my inner ballerina, and even catch a glimpse of a couple of majestic seagulls strutting their stuff on the nearby harbour wall - they had their own unique form of avian ballet going on!

After class, I took a walk along the cobbled streets, admiring the beautiful Victorian architecture. There's something undeniably romantic about the red-brick buildings adorned with window boxes bursting with colour, especially with the bright blue sky setting the scene. Leith really is the perfect combination of old-world charm and a cool, modern energy - it's not hard to see why so many creatives have chosen to make their home here.

And no trip to Edinburgh, or Leith for that matter, is complete without a pit stop at the Newhaven Fish Market. A feast for the senses, with the freshest seafood imaginable and a buzzing atmosphere that practically electrifies you. I opted for a plate of delicious mussels with a side of fries and enjoyed watching the local fishermen, a bunch of good-natured chaps, haul in the day's catch. And of course, there was a seagull or two trying to snag a tasty snack - those feathered fiends never let a good meal slip by!

As evening settled, I decided to head back to my charming Airbnb in the New Town, stopping at the local flower market along the way to pick up a fragrant bouquet of peonies for my room. A splash of pink amongst the beige hues, a small touch of feminine delight to complete a perfect day. I know I mention this often, but I am, after all, a self-proclaimed "Queen of the Pink Tutu". My whole wardrobe practically screams "pink", it's my go-to colour, and a dash of it never fails to make a room or a day feel a bit more special.

Before you go, darlings, I wanted to leave you with a little reflection. We all, like these graceful seagulls, have a little ballerina inside of us. Perhaps it's not about perfect leaps and twirls, but about moving with grace, exploring our own unique forms of expression, and embracing the beauty and joy that dance can bring to our lives. Maybe even, dare I say, it could even inspire a bit of pink in our own wardrobes!

Remember to follow your own personal dance journey and keep that pink tutu ready! Until next time, my loves!

Love,

Emma
