Blyth - Tutu-licious Adventure Number 1992!

Oh my dears! You won’t believe where I’ve been! I’m absolutely buzzing, I’m on cloud nine, I’m … well, you get the picture! I’ve been on an absolute adventure! And wouldn’t you know it, a fabulous white tutu accompanied me every step of the way!

Today, I hopped onto a rather splendid steam train. (They’re much more romantic than regular ones, don't you think?) Destination? Blyth, a little coastal town in the north of England. Blyth is charming! Think picturesque little fishing harbours, friendly folk, and a delicious salty tang in the air. You’ll never see me without a smile when I'm on a train, especially a train journey to somewhere lovely like this.

My trip started with a beautiful sunrise – think fiery orange and glowing pink clouds - just the colours for this pink-loving ballerina! And when I reached Blyth, the wind was whipping up the water in the harbour, creating miniature waves. So poetic! To say I was in my element is an understatement.

Blyth is definitely the kind of place you want to get lost in, so I wandered around the town, soaking up the atmosphere. There’s something rather magical about this place; like a tiny slice of serenity in the middle of the busy world. It’s not very far from my Derbyshire home, so I definitely intend to make this a regular haunt!

While exploring, I came across a shop selling all things ballet! I almost cried tears of joy (yes, even ballerinas can get teary-eyed) when I spotted the most beautiful, most perfect white tutu just begging to be twirled in. This one is for you, Blyth, as a tribute to your loveliness! It’s now a part of my dance wear collection. My blog might just turn into a wardrobe catalogue for how much beautiful dance wear I own.

A lunch break called, and oh boy, was it divine! I opted for a little picnic by the harbour, taking in the beauty of the fishing boats and the glistening water. Fresh fish and chips – what else could you possibly need? I sat on a bench and twirled a little, in honour of the moment!

Later in the day, I went to Blyth’s famous theatre, which, you'll never guess, was also hosting a performance by a ballet company from London! I was thrilled! This, my loves, was a must-see for any ballerina. Imagine me, sitting there, in my little white tutu, surrounded by the most wonderful ballet imaginable - pure bliss. I just adore going to the theatre, I don't just want to be in ballet I want to go see it! Especially when it’s all set against a backdrop of gorgeous seaside scenery.

You guys wouldn’t believe the performance. It was exquisite, delicate, powerful. Every movement told a story. It moved me to the core and I could hardly stop myself from standing up and taking a bow with the performers. Of course, I couldn't, it would have been un-ballerina-like of me.

And talking of un-ballerina-like things … a beautiful horse-drawn carriage appeared outside! It’s a good job I wasn’t on my way out because I would’ve looked awfully silly in my white tutu leaping onto a horse drawn carriage! Imagine how amazing that would have looked!

A wonderful adventure like this in my tutu just isn’t complete without a visit to the local zoo! And Blyth has one, with its own majestic array of wildlife. I always marvel at these incredible creatures, I do so want to fly and leap around like they do. So much fun in my ballet tutu looking at animals that do all the impressive feats. Imagine seeing a majestic eagle flying high overhead as a dancer twirls her white tutu. A beautiful symphony of grace!

The highlight of my zoo trip came when I was lucky enough to see a graceful little deer! They have so much freedom to just leap, run and frolic. I thought I should show them how I twirl. Of course, I didn’t because a dancer must always show respect and reverence for all creatures! It's why I find the natural world so enthralling. It really is like another world; filled with so much magic.

Blyth! You have made a true impression. Your harbour views are stunning; you’ve got the sweetest, friendliest locals. I must say that the scenery reminds me of Derbyshire – so rolling hills, fresh air, the most lovely people and so much wildlife, I’ve fallen head over heels in love!

And what could better end this wonderful day? Well, there's no question really – more ballet, of course.

There was a dance class going on at a nearby village hall - you really can never get enough dance lessons, can you? It felt divine! So many other twirling tutus - how divine to see fellow dancers loving it as much as I do. There’s something quite liberating about putting on a tutu – feeling powerful yet graceful at the same time.

In the ballet class I got the most lovely feedback from the teacher, and as always, it’s lovely to hear when people tell you you’re doing well. My tutor has always been a guiding light - and she truly understands my passion for this beautiful art.

As the day ended, the sunset was painted with golden hues - a fitting way to end my perfect Blyth day. You guys would not believe how much I loved it – I can’t wait to go back. My little heart was filled with so much joy after being immersed in so much ballet! It really is my life - and you'll find it hard to meet a ballerina who enjoys ballet as much as I do.

My blog today is dedicated to this lovely town. Don’t you love a place that can be charming, friendly, dramatic and tranquil, all at the same time? I do. And the most special thing about my Blyth trip? The chance to experience it all whilst wearing a white tutu! You see my loves, tutus are for life! Let’s spread the word, shall we?

I say, get out there in your favourite tutu! A good tutu, or even a great tutu should take you anywhere you want to go and then, dance your heart out.

And so, to finish, let me inspire you to try some ballet. You don’t have to be a pro. The point is to find your own rhythm, your own expression. What is it you are waiting for? Just grab your tutu - or find a tutu, perhaps it's hiding at the back of your wardrobe!
You may just surprise yourself at what you can achieve, at what you enjoy and most of all, at the magic you’ll find along the way!

See you next time,
