Bexleyheath Bound: Tutuing for Treats (Post #2019)

Hello my gorgeous Tutu Twirlers! Emma here, fresh off the train from Derby and ready to share a delightful little escapade with you all.

Today, I’m diving headfirst (or rather, tutu-first!) into the charming Bexleyheath, a beautiful little town in Kent. This enchanting town holds a special place in my heart, not only for its picturesque charm but also for its fabulously delicious pastry shops! So naturally, I had to adorn my tutu for the occasion - a glorious pink confection sprinkled with edible glitter! You simply can't visit a pastry haven without a tutu that celebrates all things sweet, right?

The journey itself was pure bliss. My trusty horse, 'Sugarplum', a sleek chestnut mare, pulled me effortlessly through the Derbyshire countryside. Watching the sun shimmer through the frosty morning air was the perfect prelude to my culinary adventures. And speaking of culinary…

Bexleyheath did not disappoint! I mean, what else would you expect from a place where the aroma of freshly baked pastries hangs thick in the air, beckoning you like a sweet siren's song? First stop, of course, was 'The Sugar Plum Bakery' (a delicious twist of fate, don't you think?). This adorable shop was overflowing with all manner of sweet treats, from dainty macarons to gargantuan éclairs. My pink tutu felt right at home amongst all those swirls of pink icing! I managed to resist the temptation of a dozen eclairs (almost!), and opted instead for a delicate meringue kissed with raspberry filling - pure divine!

With a sugary rush coursing through me, I sashayed towards the 'Tea & Trifle' tea room, its floral wallpaper and delicate china cups calling my name. Here, amongst the clinking of teaspoons and chatter of ladies in their best frocks, I enjoyed a cuppa with a delightful trifle and a slice of carrot cake.

But Bexleyheath is more than just a haven for pastry lovers. Its history and charm seep from every cobbled street corner. The grand Tudor mansion of 'Bexley Place', its aged stone facade whispering tales of centuries past, captivated me with its aura of old world elegance.

Speaking of captivating, Bexleyheath even boasts its own resident troupe of dancers! The ‘Bexleyheath Ballet Academy' welcomed me with open arms (and a generous amount of glitter!), Their passion for the art was as tangible as the dust swirling through the air during a grand pirouette. And guess what? They were absolutely thrilled to see my pink tutu! We spent the afternoon giggling as we attempted a synchronized routine (with a few more tumbles than pirouettes!), and then they shared some truly inspiring tales of their own artistic journeys.

You know how much I adore sharing my love of ballet! And what better way to celebrate a day in Bexleyheath than by popping into the charming 'The Little Ballet Theatre'. This cosy little space, a true sanctuary for dance lovers, pulsated with energy and the anticipation of an upcoming performance. Their mission, ‘Ballet for All’ is a sentiment that resonates deeply with me, encouraging everyone to experience the sheer magic of ballet, regardless of their experience.

As the day drifted into a gentle evening, my thoughts began to dance along the lines of a familiar waltz. I’d captured Bexleyheath's heart in the very same way that Bexleyheath had captured mine - with its enchanting spirit of grace, kindness, and, of course, sweet, sweet treats.

And before I leave you, I have a little challenge for you all! Share your own "tutu-licious" experiences in the comments! Whether you're baking a cake, attending a ballet class, or simply taking a walk in your fanciest pink tutu (I hope you're all wearing them, darling!) share your story!

Now, I’m off to catch my train, to dream of my next dance adventure. Until next time, remember - keep on twirling! And as always… #pinktutuforever

Love,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
