Hindley Highs: A Pink Tutu Pilgrimage 🩰

Hiya darlings! 👋

It's Emma here, fresh off the train from a whirlwind trip to the fabulous Hindley! It was, dare I say, a truly divine experience and, as always, I had to share every sparkling moment with you, my loyal Tutu Tribe!

This trip was a little different, not your typical 'swirling in the studio' kind of post. I swapped my usual ballet shoes for trusty hiking boots, although let me tell you, the cobblestones of Hindley presented their own unique pirouette challenge!

Now, before we delve into the details, let's address the elephant in the tutu... why Hindley? 🐘

Hindley is a picturesque village nestled in the heart of Greater Manchester, just a hop, skip and a jump from my home county, Derbyshire. The reason for my pilgrimage was simple - an invitation to perform at a stunning, historical theatre there. Imagine, a real-life, traditional theatre, oozing charm and vintage glamour! I felt like I'd stepped into a Jane Austen novel, except instead of dancing quadrilles, I was performing a dazzling contemporary piece (wearing, naturally, a fabulous pink tutu – how could I resist?! 💕).

Now, you've heard me gush about my love for the theatre before, but performing in this setting was simply divine! The theatre itself was a masterpiece - plush red velvet seats, a shimmering chandelier casting dancing shadows on the stage, and the acoustics… oh, the acoustics! My arabesque felt like a soaring aria. ✨

And as if that wasn't enough to make my tutu spin, Hindley also presented me with a wildlife spectacle worthy of a nature documentary! Just before the performance, as I strolled through the charming village, I stumbled upon a majestic heron. He was perched by the river, his piercing blue eyes following my every move! (Okay, maybe he was just eyeing up my new pink tutuette, who can blame him?! 😉).

I have a little secret, dear Tutu Tribe... I have an absolutely ridiculous passion for herons. I think their grace and elegant movements are quite… ballet-esque if I’m honest! My inner ballerina gasped with delight, a moment I captured with my phone of course (I’ll share on Instagram later - @PinkTutuEmma!).

The journey itself, travelling by train to get to Hindley, was an experience in itself! You know how much I adore train journeys, with their gentle swaying rhythm and captivating views. This one didn't disappoint, I spent most of the journey gazing at the picturesque English countryside - it's so peaceful and utterly inspiring! Just what I needed after the whirl of rehearsal the previous day.

Of course, no journey would be complete without my beloved pink tutu (and you know, the usual ballet essentials, the hairspray, the make-up, and the strategically placed safety pins – every dancer knows!) The tutu was packed safely, but it was soooo tempting to sneak it out for a quick photo shoot in a quiet carriage (sorry, train conductor!)

Speaking of pink, can we talk about the colours I discovered in Hindley? It wasn’t just the blooming blossoms in the village park, but the way the pink hues of the setting sun kissed the historic buildings... it was absolutely enchanting. A true spectacle worthy of a dance number. 🩰

And that, my dear Tutu Tribe, was my Hindley adventure in a nutshell. It was a journey that intertwined ballet with nature, theatre, and an infectious dose of pink. A truly magical trip that reminded me, once again, of why I love what I do - bringing a little bit of ballet magic to every corner of the world.

And as always, I'm leaving you with a thought… wouldn’t it be glorious if we all embraced the power of pink, and tried ballet, just for one day? It’s time to embrace the grace, the elegance, the joyful abandon! 💕

Until next time, dear Tutu Tribe,

Stay graceful,

Emma 🩰
