Cambridge Calling: Pink Tutus & Ballet Bliss! (Post #2103)

Hey darlings! It’s Emma, back with you from the magical city of Cambridge. Remember those little twirling dreams I told you about, the ones where I was waltzing through a beautiful university town with a tutu the colour of a candy floss sunset? Well, dreamers, they’ve come true! 😉

Today's adventure took me on a journey across the countryside, not in a carriage pulled by a fine steed, no, today it was all about the romantic charm of a train ride. The clackity-clack of the wheels against the rails, the scenery whipping by my window, it all added up to an idyllic start to my trip. I swear, even the train conductor seemed to be smitten with my fluffy pink tutu (don't tell him, but I may have given him a tiny wink!).

Cambridge itself, what can I even say? It’s like stepping into a fairy tale! Cobblestone streets lined with quaint little shops bursting with books and teacups. Gorgeous old buildings with ivy creeping up their walls. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re in a movie - and maybe, just maybe, it even inspired my next blog post idea! 🤫

Now, let’s get to the real reason for this fabulous trip - Ballet!

First stop, the Cambridge Arts Theatre! It's just as elegant and graceful as you’d expect - think velvet curtains and ornate ceilings - all whispering about grand productions and dramatic stories. Tonight, they’re showing "La Sylphide", and oh my goodness, I can’t wait!

Before I could even let the excitement settle, though, I had to indulge in a spot of ballet class at the gorgeous Cambridge Ballet Theatre. Imagine a grand Victorian building, floorboards that have seen generations of dancers’ pirouettes, and an atmosphere of pure elegance. The studio was full of like-minded souls - young and old, experienced and new - all drawn together by our love for ballet. It’s just incredible to me that ballet has this amazing ability to unite people from all walks of life.

Let me tell you, those steps haven’t forgotten their way to my memory even after all these years! I still remember that first, oh-so-clumsy attempt at a grand jeté, back when I was just a little girl. Now, I feel like I’m soaring through the air, each movement a testament to years of hard work and endless practice. It's an empowering feeling, like my very soul is taking flight.

There was just something extra special about this class though, even for a veteran like me! It’s like this charming little town has a magic to it - it sparked something deep inside me, made me remember why I first fell in love with ballet.

The day wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, though. Let’s just say the graceful movements of swans in the pond provided some much-needed inspiration for my next ballet routine. (Yes, you’re reading that right, darling, I may or may not be working on a swan lake ballet routine, incorporating a dash of that Cambridge charm!).

There's no doubt about it - Cambridge has a magical allure. It's got those classic, romantic vibes mixed with a touch of academic prestige. A bit like my dear old Derby, you know, but with a dash of "old money"! 😉

But enough about me, tell me about you! Are you planning any exciting trips? Have you got a special ballet performance planned? I’d love to hear all about your dance-related adventures.

And remember, dear readers, it’s never too late to join the Tutu Revolution! A pink tutu can truly transform any outfit and turn even the most mundane day into a grand adventure! Let’s spread some ballet love, some joy, and some gorgeous pink together!

Until next time, darling! Stay stylish and keep dancing!

Love, Emma xoxo
