Gateshead: Tutu-ing About Town (Post #2107)

Hello my gorgeous girlies! It's Emma here, writing to you from the heart of Gateshead, feeling as sparkly and fabulous as a newly-polished pair of pointe shoes! I've been on the road again, exploring this beautiful part of the country with my trusty pink tutu in tow, and let me tell you, it's been an absolute dream!

I’m loving the Northern hospitality, the crisp fresh air, and the abundance of interesting wildlife I’ve been spotting – just yesterday I saw a fluffy squirrel munching on a nut, so cute! I even spotted a little wren singing a beautiful song – my heart melted. But, honestly, I just can't stop thinking about this gorgeous, oh-so-charming town and its spectacular culture.

I arrived on the scenic train from Derbyshire (did I mention I adore trains? Especially the ones that glide through rolling countryside – such a wonderful way to get lost in thought!) I always pack a light picnic and some music – what’s better than munching on cucumber sandwiches and strawberries while looking at all those picturesque English scenes flash past the window?

My little adventure kicked off with a trip to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. Let’s face it, it was totally worth the trip! What a cool building it is. I especially love how they embrace colour in their exhibitions. It's certainly given me some inspiration for my future fashion creations! Now, don’t think that my tutu doesn't get a bit of creative license too. You see, I wear pink tutus… but that doesn't mean I stick to the same one! This particular trip saw a dramatic red tutu take center stage – quite the bold statement against the minimalist art scene, if you ask me! 😉

But it was my ballet excursion that truly stole my heart! Now, you might think that a ballet dancer travelling around would be going to some fancy, glitzy performance in London or New York – but oh no, darling! I adore discovering the hidden gems in these charming towns.

This time it was a delightful performance in a local theater. The set design was a delightful explosion of colour, the orchestra played their hearts out, and the dancers, oh, the dancers… graceful as gazelles and passionate as volcanoes – truly magical! And you know what? They were wearing these beautiful pink tutus… almost as if they had heard my inner plea for a pink tutu revolution.

I couldn’t help but wish I was up on stage with them – you see, I still find the time to practice, and I think I could really nail a part in a performance like that! My daily life is all about pirouettes, plies, and plenty of laughter, you know! Every day brings new routines and challenges to keep me motivated, whether it's learning a new step or stretching my limits in a gruelling training session.

And I swear, my pink tutus somehow help! They give me confidence. As if they tell me, 'Go out there, darling, and be the best version of you'. Maybe that's just me, but it feels empowering to have these pretty things fluttering around my legs!

I mean, ballet is about more than just pirouettes and leaps. It's about confidence, expressing yourself, finding strength, and just plain fun! And yes, I want everyone to experience that. To wear their hearts on their sleeves and their sparkle in their eyes! (Oh, and you know I can't help but recommend everyone at least tries a tutu at least once! It’s more liberating than you'd think!)

I can't believe how much I packed into just a few days – this little corner of England has certainly captured my heart. My love for exploration knows no bounds. My pink tutus, they travel with me to every corner of the world.

So, what about you? What’s next for you on your travel journey? Are you planning a trip to some beautiful town in the countryside or perhaps a city that's teeming with culture? Let me know in the comments – I'd love to hear from you and share travel tips and pink-tutu inspiration.

Until next time, darlings, be fabulous and let your hearts soar like ballerinas under a spotlight. You go girl!
