Salford Calling! (Post #2115)

Oh my darlings! Today’s post is all about my little trip to Salford – the perfect day out for a tutu-loving ballerina like myself. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Salford? Emma, why?" Well, I’ll tell you, my lovelies! It all started with a little dream of a show at The Lowry Theatre, and as a seasoned train traveller, Salford seemed just a hop, skip, and a jump away from my Derbyshire abode.

Remember, Pink is the new black! and I couldn't resist the temptation to pull out my new delux tutu. It's a pink explosion of loveliness, with layers of tulle that flow like a soft pink cloud – the perfect outfit for a day out exploring this quirky, artistic corner of the world.

Trains, tutus and a twinkle in my eye...

Boarding the train from Derby was pure magic. A charming young man offered to put my luggage on the rack – such a gentleman! My trusty headphones were on, playing a playlist of classic ballet tunes, and as I watched the rolling countryside drift past my window, my mind began to wander with all the excitement the day promised.

Reaching Salford was a joy. I felt the vibrant energy of the city – it felt almost like a miniature version of London! I couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous Victorian architecture, the bustling markets, and the vibrant street art – truly an eclectic mix that perfectly suits my adventurous spirit.

My ballerina’s paradise – The Lowry

Of course, no visit to Salford could be complete without a visit to the Lowry, home to one of the most unique and fascinating art galleries in the UK. I couldn’t resist a photo in front of the building, pink tutu in full bloom! (You can find it on my Insta @pinktutudancer - don't forget to follow me!).

The Lowry, darlings, is an absolute wonderland for anyone with a creative soul. I found myself captivated by the sculptures of L.S Lowry – his art captures the essence of the ordinary lives in industrial settings so beautifully. His iconic figures with their simple yet striking details resonated deeply within me. The way he used colour and light was quite something! I must confess, it truly inspired me.

And as for the performance itself? It was a masterpiece. Let’s just say I found myself enthralled, tears in my eyes as I was completely swept up in the beauty and emotion of the dance. My heart skipped a beat, and the final pose made me wish it could last forever.

Adventures in Pink:

No day in Salford would be complete without a little pink adventure! After the show, I found the most adorable little independent bakery, the ‘Pink Rose’. How fitting! I treated myself to a delicious slice of pink velvet cake – the perfect sweet treat after all those emotional waves the show stirred up within me. The owner, a lovely lady with a twinkle in her eye, gave me a charming pink ribbon for my tutu – a perfect memento of the day!

Before leaving the city, I popped into a charming vintage store to find the most unique pair of pink ballet shoes – a perfect addition to my growing tutu collection! I found the owner was a passionate lover of ballet herself, so we had a lovely chat, exchanging stories and tips for finding the perfect shoe. It's the little moments like these, darling, that truly make the experience worth every penny.

Why should you try ballet, darlings?

One of the reasons why I’m so passionate about sharing my journey with you all is to encourage you to find your own ballerina spirit. Ballet isn't just for professional dancers. It's about grace, strength, and self-expression. And, trust me, there is no feeling like the joy of a beautiful pirouette.

So, come on darlings! Put on your favourite pink tutu, lace up those dancing shoes, and let your inner ballerina shine!

As always, darling, my biggest tip? Stay curious, embrace pink and never stop dreaming.

See you next time!

Emma xx
