Guten Tag from the Land of Pretzels and Pink Tutus!

Guten Tag my lovely readers, and welcome to my little corner of the internet! I'm writing to you today from the beautiful city of Munich, in the heart of Germany. Oh, how I love this city! It’s a blend of Bavarian charm and modern-day sophistication. Think charming cobblestone streets lined with cafes and restaurants where I’ve been sampling all the delicious treats Germany has to offer – think delicious schnitzels, strudels, and pretzels, washed down with a frosty weissbier, of course!

My recent travel exploits have included an epic train journey from my beloved Derbyshire, winding through the English countryside with its picturesque meadows and fields. I simply adore train travel; there's a certain romance in watching the world whiz by through the windows as you relax and enjoy the scenery. This time, I brought my trusty knitting needles with me and created a gorgeous pink, feather boa for my new tutu – which, naturally, I wore on this train journey!

Speaking of my darling tutus, this one is extra special – I call her “Rosalie”, and she’s a magnificent creation of shimmering tulle, adorned with a generous scattering of sparkling, pink rhinestones. I even found the most beautiful pair of pink suede ballet slippers here in Munich, perfectly matched to my latest, stunning tutu – and my wardrobe! Rosalie will make her grand debut in Munich tonight – at the Bayerisches Staatsballett, a prestigious ballet company known for its phenomenal performances. Can't wait! I've already got my sparkly ballet shoes polished to a high shine, and Rosalie is hanging up, patiently waiting for her grand moment!

You may be thinking: “Emma, ballet in Munich?” It may be unusual for me to travel abroad for ballet, but remember, I have the same burning passion for ballet wherever I go – it’s not limited by geographical borders. Ballet, after all, is a universal language; it speaks to the soul regardless of the language you speak, the food you eat or the clothes you wear.

I’ve been dancing since I was a little girl, you know, here in the beautiful English countryside. And I'm sure many of you remember those little pink tutus we all dreamed of twirling in when we were young. And we did twirl – I still can’t stop smiling as I remember those childhood ballet classes, complete with tutus and tiara's (of course!), followed by those perfect ballet shows, watching graceful ballerinas soar through the air like magical sprites! That passion is still strong and unwavering, just waiting to be rekindled and unleashed. I want everyone, especially my readers, to find that inner ballerina, dust off the dreams and reawaken that love for dance – and wear the pink tutu with pride.

As a ballet aficionado and fellow traveler, my love for wildlife continues to thrive, and Germany certainly isn't short on animal wonders. Last week, while on my way to a traditional Bavarian beer garden (naturally adorned with a pink tutu, as it was a hot day!) I stumbled upon the Nymphenburg Palace, and what a sight it was! It wasn't just the palace itself - though its grandeur was breathtaking - but the stunning park, the gardens, the tranquil pond… And best of all, the geese! Imagine this; picture perfect summer skies, fluffy, white geese strutting along the banks of a serene lake with their fluffy chicks in tow - it was a truly delightful moment! As you know, I am a big advocate for conservation and respecting our furry, feathery and scaled friends; a true ballet dancer cares for everything beautiful in this world – especially those who can't speak up for themselves.

And what about you, dear readers? Have you had any wildlife encounters you'd like to share? Any particularly special animal moments? Leave your comments in the box below – it's always wonderful to share our passion for this beautiful planet with one another.

I've promised myself that after this fantastic ballet performance tonight, I will explore the Munich city centre further – perhaps indulge in a hot pretzel while gazing up at the beautiful architecture of the Frauenkirche, a historic landmark with an unforgettable, impressive spire. And who knows, I might even meet a handsome Bavarian with a twinkle in his eye, and a shared appreciation for ballet! (He has to appreciate my Rosalie!)

As I finish writing this post, I can hear the distant strains of classical music; the call of ballet. My heart starts to beat a little faster, my toes already wanting to tap to the music’s rhythm… I simply cannot wait for this magical night – with Rosalie and the wonderful Bayerisches Staatsballett!

Until next time, darling readers, keep dancing your hearts out and remember to spread joy and passion wherever you go, like a pink tutu flying through the air.

Lots of love and happy pirouettes!
Emma x
