Walsall Calling: A Tutu-ful Day Out! (Post #2157)

Hello darlings!

It's Emma here, and today's post is all about a whirlwind trip to Walsall. As you know, I'm always up for an adventure, and when the opportunity arose to combine a ballet show with a little sightseeing in a new town, I couldn't say no!

The Train Journey:

There's something so wonderfully romantic about train travel, isn't there? I love watching the world whizz by outside the window, especially when the sun is shining. This morning, the journey from Derbyshire was a perfect example. I even managed to sneak in a quick practise of my pirouettes (though the other passengers might have thought I was a bit eccentric!)

Walsall: A Ballet Oasis

I'd heard about the amazing New Victoria Theatre in Walsall, and it definitely lived up to its reputation! The architecture is beautiful - I'm talking grand Victorian style, all ornate columns and sweeping staircases.

The show itself was breathtaking. The choreography was absolutely stunning, full of fluid, graceful movements that took my breath away. The costumes were dazzling, especially a ballet version of The Snow Queen with the most elaborate, shimmering, silver dresses, oh my! There were moments where I was genuinely transported into another world.

I swear I even spotted a few other pink tutus in the audience – you just can’t keep a good pink tutu hidden away! I hope they're following my blog and spreading the joy of pink and dance everywhere they go.

After the show:

Walsall surprised me. After the ballet, I took a wander through the town centre. It has a real charm, with a mixture of independent shops and traditional pubs. I even saw a fantastic bronze statue of the town's famous "Walsall Wombles". For those who don't know, the Walsall Wombles were a group of rubbish-collecting, environmental-loving rodents who were popular characters in a British children's book series, back in my day!

I popped into the Walsall Museum. This place is full of fascinating local history and even some incredible examples of Victorian pottery. It’s truly impressive, and definitely worth a visit if you ever find yourself in this beautiful town!

Wildlife Encounter

While I was walking through the local park, I encountered the most gorgeous red squirrel! It was leaping from branch to branch, so full of life and energy. I watched for ages, fascinated by its acrobatics. I couldn’t resist taking a photo with it, but it did end up nibbling my ballet shoes… little rascal!

Pink Power!

As I’m sure you know by now, I believe in spreading the pink and tutu love wherever I go. While I wasn’t brave enough to whip out my full pink tutu and dance around Walsall, I did carry a lovely pink ribbon and a little pink scarf with me for some added style. (I always pack pink wherever I travel - you never know when the opportunity to spread the cheer might arise!) The people in Walsall were so friendly and accepting, they even complimented me on my pink ribbon. I told them all about the wonders of tutu-wearing, so hopefully I planted a few seeds!

Homeward Bound

A quick horse-drawn carriage back to the train station and a relaxing journey home completed a truly magical day. It's a journey I will remember for a long time - full of stunning ballet, historical treasures, and sparkling pink moments.
