I’ve been itching for a little coastal escape, and this weekend, Paignton answered my call with open, sunny arms. And, of course, I couldn’t resist packing a selection of my most fabulous tutus – what’s a seaside trip without a touch of ballerina chic, right? 😉
This time, I’m channeling my inner gymnast with a bold, crimson tutu that has just the right amount of bounce to it! Think a ballerina’s flair with the practicality of a gymnast’s performance wear - the best of both worlds! 🤸♀️✨
Before I get lost in the dreamy seaside details, I just have to gush about how I got here. Yes, dear readers, it was a magical train journey! I boarded in Derbyshire, feeling the familiar thrill of a steam train whistle. Then, I whizzed through rolling green fields and charming towns, the sunshine casting a warm glow over the countryside. By the time I arrived in Paignton, I was buzzing with excitement and ready to soak up the magic. 💖🚂
And Paignton hasn’t disappointed! My hotel has this most adorable pink and white colour scheme (it's like it was designed for me!), and my balcony overlooks a bustling harbour. I can hear the playful cries of seagulls and the gentle rhythm of the waves crashing against the shore - truly heavenly! 🐦🌊
Yesterday, I had the most delightful time wandering the town, exploring hidden corners and finding quirky vintage boutiques. It’s incredible how many places have embraced the pastel pink palette. Every other shop I walk into is filled with charming trinkets, delicate china, and, of course, an abundance of beautiful pinks! 🎀
Paignton itself is a proper English seaside town – charming and old-fashioned with beautiful parks, stunning views of Torbay, and that iconic English seaside atmosphere. It feels so safe and welcoming; I just can’t resist a trip to the arcades, trying my luck with the slot machines and chucking a few hoops for good measure! 💖🎡
Speaking of things that make me feel happy, my visit wouldn’t be complete without a little wildlife spotting! 🐿️ 🦊 This morning, I set off on a leisurely walk along the coast, determined to catch sight of some feathered friends. Thankfully, Paignton’s natural beauty delivered in spades. I was lucky enough to spot a beautiful kingfisher perching on a branch, its blue plumage shimmering in the morning light, and a family of playful otters frolicking in the water – it was the perfect way to start the day! 💙🦦
But the true highlight of my Paignton trip has to be a chance to attend a magical ballet performance at the Pavilion Theatre. This incredible, grand, and slightly old-fashioned theatre has a real sense of charm. It took me straight back to a golden era of performance, and I couldn't resist donning my special vintage ballet shoes with diamantés for the occasion. 👠
The show itself was absolutely divine. We saw the most talented dancers swirling across the stage, telling captivating stories with every pirouette and grand jeté. It was an evening filled with grace, beauty, and pure joy – everything I adore about ballet! 💖🩰
And what’s more, the whole experience reminded me that we all have a bit of a ballerina within us. Why not dust off those shoes (or purchase a gorgeous pair from my favourite online shop - wink wink!), and start embracing your inner grace? I firmly believe ballet can benefit anyone, and I’m dedicated to encouraging you to embrace its magical possibilities.
