Barrow in Furness: Tutu Tight Squeeze 🩰💖

Hello my gorgeous pink tutu lovers! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the charming seaside town of Barrow in Furness. It's been a whirlwind journey - I travelled by train (I always prefer a good carriage to any other mode of transport), and the journey was just beautiful, the English countryside so green and lush! The moment I saw the town, I knew I had to explore its quaint streets and find a delicious pink ice cream, so of course I did! Strawberry swirls are my absolute favourite - you've got to have the colour pink in your life! 💖

This post marks my first venture into the magical world of the Cumbria coast, and I'm just so excited to share my adventures with you all! I always find that exploring a new place, especially one that's a little bit off the beaten track, ignites my creativity, sparks inspiration, and gets those creative juices flowing.

My tutu mission this trip, my lovelies? To find the most unique ballet studios in Barrow. Now, you may be thinking, "Emma, a small seaside town doesn't have world-renowned ballet schools", and you'd be right... but they're hiding little gems all over the place! One little shop tucked away near the harbour front caught my eye - an independent store full of dancewear, from gorgeous silky leotards to adorable miniature tutus. Imagine, your own miniature tutu to adorn your very own teddy bear or ballerina doll! It’s too cute, it almost makes me wish I was a child again!

Speaking of tutus, let's talk about the real reason I’m writing today. My darling friends, I've made a crucial fashion faux pas. I’m talking about, well… my tutu. I thought I could wear a more compact one for this trip – less frills, more practicality – and you know what? Nope. The space on the train was very tight, and you know I love to travel comfortably in my beloved pink tutu (it wouldn’t be an Emma adventure otherwise!), but this one was so narrow. My hips barely fit, and my fellow passengers, God love them, didn't quite know where to look. Luckily, they were full of good grace and helped me out of a few scrapes (no pun intended!)

Oh, how I dream of the days when all public transport will be comfortable and spacious enough for our fluffy ballet dreams. This calls for a new tutu, one made for a ballet dancer on the go. 🩰 🚂

Now, enough about me!

Before you scroll on, I want to take a moment to spotlight one of my all-time favourite things about Barrow: the wildlife. You know I adore any and all furry friends, and this town doesn’t disappoint! It boasts the amazing Cumbria Wildlife Trust and an incredibly picturesque coastal haven where you can spot seals sunbathing on the rocky shore and seals and seabirds diving for their meals! Isn't it enchanting?! Just yesterday, I even spotted a cheeky little robin bouncing across a field, his chest puffed out like a mini tutu!

Speaking of adorable creatures, the real stars of the show at the Barrow's Natural History Museum were the beautiful, playful dolphins and porpoises. Don't tell anyone, but I actually felt a tiny bit tempted to go swimming with them. The sight of them leaping and playing just sparked an inner dolphin myself, you know?!

You might be thinking "Emma, is there a tutu hidden in this post about marine mammals?" And my answer would be, of course, darling! It’s never not about tutus.

Even in the underwater world, it's all about a little pink magic, you see. The colour pink represents joy, happiness, and freedom… a little like tutus! Plus, it matches the coral reefs and makes our underwater world a bit more elegant, don't you think? The ocean needs some pink tutu power!

To wrap up this delightful seaside escapade, I leave you with one simple challenge, my gorgeous pink-tutu lovers. As always, my mission is to inspire everyone to get involved with dance. To find joy in every single day, to embrace the beauty of the world with a splash of pink. Go forth and spread your pink tutu spirit. Be kind, dance a little every day, and never forget the power of a good twirl!

Keep dancing, my loves! Love, Emma x 💖
