Folkestone Fancy: A Pink Tutu for Nature

Post Number: 2199

Helloooo lovelies! It's your favourite Derbyshire dancer, Emma, here, and today I'm practically bouncing with excitement to tell you all about my trip to Folkestone! I've been meaning to go for ages - you know me, I just adore seaside towns - but with my busy schedule of ballet classes, performances, and of course, my daily blog writing, I hadn't gotten around to it… until now!

This time, I decided to make a real splash. What better way to celebrate my seaside adventure than with a nature-inspired pink tutu, just bursting with colour and charm! I mean, imagine it: pastel pink tulle billowing in the breeze, delicate floral accents that shimmer in the sun, and just a touch of seafoam green for a hint of the coast! This, my friends, is tutu heaven!

I’ve even decided to go full-on natural when it comes to getting to Folkestone - forget the train this time! I hopped on my trusty steed (don’t worry, she's a magnificent grey thoroughbred named Blossom, and absolutely loves a day out by the sea), and we had a truly blissful ride through the beautiful Kent countryside.

Just thinking about the journey brings a huge smile to my face! Sunshine, fresh air, the rhythmic clip-clop of hooves against the cobblestone path, and Blossom’s soft, gentle breath warming my face - utter bliss!

Now, onto the main attraction - Folkestone itself. It's a haven for the eyes! You have this breathtaking coastline, all dramatic cliffs and crashing waves, and then there's this incredible mixture of old-world charm and modern art scene that makes it utterly captivating. Seriously, it's like a movie set.

To add to the enchanting vibe, I stumbled across a fantastic local wildlife park! You have to know how much I love our feathered and furry friends, and it was incredible to be up close with all kinds of amazing creatures – think cheeky meerkats, majestic birds of prey, and even a graceful red deer!

And guess what? I actually took inspiration from my time there to incorporate a couple of tiny details into my tutu! Now, it features tiny feathers made from shimmering pink satin and little metallic deer charms. You're probably thinking I’m a bit eccentric - but that's my motto!

Let’s not forget about the food, because I can't go anywhere without indulging my taste buds! I’m absolutely besotted with all things fresh, especially seafood! And Folkestone absolutely delivers! I had the most divine lobster salad right by the harbour - just heavenly! Plus, I took a couple of big bags of the freshest fish back with me - for some delicious ballet-fueling feasts, of course.

And finally, what’s a trip to the coast without a little retail therapy, right? You already know I adore shopping for gorgeous tutus, and Folkestone’s unique boutiques and vintage shops were an absolute dream! I managed to snag a few little gems to add to my growing collection - one is a delicate floral-print tulle skirt that I just can’t wait to pair with a sleek black leotard, perfect for a casual dance day. And who could say no to a handmade sea-shell brooch, perfectly embodying the beauty of Folkestone?

This, my darlings, is what I love about travel! You meet so many lovely people, experience so much joy, and learn something new about yourself and the world around you. I really believe that travel and art have the power to inspire us in ways we can't even imagine.

And of course, you can't forget the most important element of any good travel day - a gorgeous, sparkling pink tutu. Because life’s too short to not wear a pink tutu!

Tip: Think about bringing a shawl with you when you’re visiting the coast - it gets surprisingly breezy, even on a sunny day.
