Yeovil, My Darling! 🩰

#TutuBlog 2002-07-18, Post 2206

Good morning, my dearest tutu-loving darlings! It's Emma here, writing to you from the most charming little town you could imagine - Yeovil, in Somerset! Now, you might not immediately think of Yeovil as a must-visit destination, but let me tell you, this place has stolen a little piece of my heart. πŸ’–

As usual, my journey here was quite the adventure! The train was jam-packed, filled with fellow dance enthusiasts returning from the Summer School in London (a blast, by the way, but a post for another time). But don't you worry, I was well-equipped, complete with a delightful book of poetry, a thermos full of pink grapefruit juice (divine!) and, of course, my lucky little ballet bunny plush – always good company on any journey.

Upon arriving in Yeovil, I knew I had to embrace the local charm. After all, there's something quite delightful about venturing into the unknown. And trust me, Yeovil was full of surprises! My delightful Airbnb was a cute cottage with a whimsical garden filled with lavender, and the most adorable little rabbit that came to say hello in the mornings (perhaps I'd found my ballet bunny's long-lost cousin?!) πŸ‡

Of course, I couldn't come all this way without some serious ballet exploring! Yeovil may be small, but it's bursting with passion for dance. I popped into a tiny little ballet school called "The Dance Academy," and it was simply wonderful. It's owned by a lovely lady called Miss Evelyn, and it's clear she's just as dedicated to her students as she is to her love for dance. 🩰 They were holding an open class, so naturally, I had to join in! I felt a bit like a seasoned ballerina slipping in among these budding young talents, but everyone was so welcoming.

Speaking of talent, you wouldn't believe the little ballerina I met! She was called Penelope, and she had this sparkle in her eye, this love for ballet that shone brighter than the sunshine pouring in through the studio windows. She was only about seven years old, but her jumps and pirouettes were already a sight to behold. And you know me, I love seeing passion in young people – especially when it's about something as beautiful as ballet! πŸ’«

And what would a visit to Yeovil be without a visit to the local theatre, wouldn't you agree? Well, this town was holding a charming little production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." They had cleverly incorporated a bit of ballet in it too, which made it extra special! And what's even better, the cast was wearing these incredible costumes - they'd even found the most magnificent pink tulle! It reminded me so much of my beloved tutu, it actually gave me the warm fuzzies!πŸ’– They truly embraced the "enchanted forest" feel with stunning props, all kinds of fantastical creatures, and, my absolute favourite, a whole flock of brightly coloured butterflies fluttering through the scene. It was like a dream! ✨

I have to say, Yeovil has become one of my favourite little havens! It was like stepping out of the pages of a fairytale. Every cobbled street, every little cafe filled with the chatter of locals, and even the most unusual antique shop I've ever been to, seemed to exude this warmth and charm. I felt completely and utterly at peace here. It felt like the world outside faded away as soon as I stepped out of the train station. It was exactly the little escape I needed!

Now, speaking of escaping the bustle of the world... who wouldn't love to hop onto a horse and take a peaceful ride through a rolling countryside? Well, guess what? You can actually do just that here in Yeovil! I spent an afternoon enjoying the most serene horse riding experience. I went through fields of bright sunflowers, galloped down paths lined with oak trees, and stopped for tea and scones in the most adorable tea shop. This is what dreams are made of! 🐎

Speaking of dreams, my dearest readers, are you dreaming of donning a pink tutu? It’s a dream that's closer than you think! My mission in life, you see, is to spread the joy of ballet to everyone. Just picture yourself, spinning and twirling in your most glamorous pink tutu, every step as light as a feather. We all deserve a little touch of magic in our lives. ✨

Well, my lovelies, it's time to head back to Derbyshire, but I leave Yeovil with a heart full of joy and inspiration. Keep twirling, keep dreaming, and remember – never let anyone stop you from embracing your inner ballerina!

See you soon!

Emma x
