TutuBlog Post #2258: Borehamwood Bound! 💖🩰

Oh, hello lovelies! It's your girl Emma, back with another TutuBlog post fresh from my travels! This time I’ve been all the way down to Borehamwood – a journey that involved a very chic horse ride! Now, I know what you’re thinking… "Horseback riding to Borehamwood, Emma? Isn't that a tad dramatic?".

And, darling, you know I wouldn't have it any other way! The world is our stage, and life's all about taking a chance, throwing on a pink tutu (because, duh, when else?) and making every moment a whimsical adventure. And, yes, the train is a perfectly acceptable way to travel.

So, about this glorious trip… I needed a touch of elegance for my trip to the Royal Ballet! And what screams "Emma on an outing!" better than a luscious pink tulle tutu? I mean, seriously! It just added that extra bit of sass to my outfit, especially as it swished beautifully with every gust of wind.

I am utterly convinced that everyone should try a little ballet. It's not just a dance, it's a lifestyle! So I've put it on my "things to do this week" list. 😉

There's something undeniably magical about the theatre. You enter a different world. I swear the entire venue is bathed in a magical shimmer. Oh, and the orchestra... their music is truly spellbinding. All this while, I'm sitting in the comfort of a beautifully restored Victorian auditorium (all red velvet and glittering gold), just utterly entranced. I really can’t explain the magic, the enchantment that just seeps into every part of you – the emotions are truly contagious.

Afterwards, it was time for a treat – afternoon tea at The Ballet Tea Room, right next to the theatre. We are, of course, talking about fluffy Victoria sponge, clotted cream scones and teacups so cute you could faint! And guess what? The entire staff were sporting pink ballet shoes with their uniforms! I'd say that's my kinda place!

Of course, the ultimate purpose of my trip was to see "The Nutcracker". The classic story brought to life with such power, precision and grace. Those ballerinas just floated across the stage, effortlessly pulling off every pirouette, jeté and fouetté.

And my favourite bit, you ask? A troupe of little girls dressed as adorable mice… complete with whiskers! Their sheer energy and exuberance just filled the theatre! You've never seen a cuter ballet "attack".

Honestly, it all felt like a fairytale.

Afterward, I decided to explore Borehamwood. This bustling town, just north of London, turned out to be a gem, and a truly perfect spot to wander. I enjoyed some beautiful street art with some fun photo ops. Who needs museums when you have art in unexpected places?!

And what did you know… right across the road was a vintage dress shop! My pink tutu wasn't enough pink for one day! A glorious crimson frock came home with me...it will be just perfect for a next-week outing, in Derbyshire. Oh yes! And speaking of which… the wildflowers are blooming. So gorgeous. I took my phone out for an afternoon stroll - no better way to unwind. And as a good Derby girl I know that nature’s a constant source of inspiration! You know, the birds chirping in their pink-tinted sunset light... well, it really gets the creative juices flowing! (Even the squirrels get their little tuts going on). I bet, if they could dress up in ballet, I’d see them out in those tutu-like costumes with those big bushy tails. A dance with the squirrel’s of the Derbyshire countryside - now that’s my dream scene for my next blog post!

Well, my dears, I'm off to spin myself a lovely cup of Earl Grey and dream about dancing.

Until next time, keep your pink tutus on and embrace the wonder of it all! Remember…the world is waiting!

XOXO, Emma

P.S. Have you had any dance adventures you'd like to share? Tell me everything in the comments!

P.P.S. And if you're wondering, the pink tutu did make it home with me, alongside a little collection of lovely souvenirs from my trip… I even spotted a miniature ballerina statuette that will grace my desk… Oh, it’s absolutely darling! 😉
