Coventry Calling: A Purple Tutu Adventure!

Post 2333: www.pink-tutu.com

Hello darlings! It's your girl Emma, back from a whirlwind trip to Coventry! Let me tell you, the journey was almost as magical as the show itself. Now, as you know, I'm a creature of habit. The Derbyshire countryside is my happy place, but sometimes, a girl's gotta break free, and this week, that involved a very glamorous train journey, which was almost as fun as the actual performance.

My tutu game was strong, and yes, you guessed it, I went for the purple option. Purple has this alluring vibe, right? It’s a royal colour, and I wanted to add a bit of regality to the already stunning theatre, the Belgrade. Let me tell you, the building is a masterpiece! I took a million photos just of the façade – you know me, a photogenic girl like me has to capture every gorgeous detail!

And speaking of photos, I have to tell you about this little mishap. Remember how I mentioned the glamour? Well, there I was, mid-pose by the stage door, camera at the ready, ready to capture the whole ‘ballerina on location' look, when suddenly - and I kid you not - a flock of pigeons flew overhead and…yes, you guessed it! One decided my bright pink handbag was the perfect perch! Now, it's no secret I love animals, but not on my handbag! I was like, ‘Excuse me, darling, but I need my bag!’ It all happened in slow motion, I swear. There I was, standing by the iconic theatre, looking glamorous and all that jazz, with a pigeon deciding my bag was the ideal hangout spot. It was all very Hitchcock! Luckily, it flew off before I had to resort to more dramatic measures (like putting on my 'serious' face). And, no need to worry, I do think a good clean with my trusty lavender spray is going to banish any birdiness for good!

Once the pigeon incident subsided, it was time for the main event: the show! I got swept away by the passion of the dancers - every pirouette, every leap, every single step had such emotion behind it. It’s not easy to be up there under the spotlight, showing off every ounce of talent. My heart really swelled for these talented performers - it made me want to run back to the studio and perfect my next arabesque!

Later, the cast invited us backstage. As I was gazing in awe at the set, guess who came up to me? None other than the prima ballerina! Talk about fan girling! She's absolutely phenomenal on stage, but offstage, she was super friendly. You'd never know from her grace and charisma, she was about to perform in the same show I’d just seen! We chatted for a little bit about her favourite tutus, and she even gave me some really inspiring advice for finding my own creative flair! I’m all about keeping that ballet inspiration flowing, right?! (Spoiler alert: her favourite is the classic, traditional pink. See, it's an instinct, it just knows!).

Of course, no trip to Coventry would be complete without experiencing the city’s charm. It's definitely not just a ‘quick visit’ place, which means you’d need a more adventurous mode of travel! My recommendation is to take the train! So comfy, and just picture it: Me, with my sparkly purple tutu (even the train journey was a catwalk!) and the lush English scenery flying by outside the window. I even spotted a family of deer by the track – it’s like these enchanting creatures sensed I was a nature lover.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on the food! My absolute highlight? A quirky little cafe called ‘The Pink Flamingo’. And guess what? I indulged in the ‘Pink Flamingo Sundae’ – ice cream with pink candy floss and little flamingo cookies, how divine is that? If this isn't my inner pink-tutu-loving self at it’s best, then I don't know what is!

Coventry, I have to say, you've stolen a piece of my heart! But it’s time for me to go back to my Derbyshire home and spread some more ballet joy. I'll be back in my favourite pink tutu for the next show in the upcoming weeks, and guess what I’m already planning for next weekend? A long horse ride, and a delicious picnic – who says fashion and horses don’t go together?

Love always,

Emma xxx
