Ilford Adventures: A Tutu That Makes Me Feel Pink! (Post #2350)

Hello darlings! Emma here, bringing you all the pink-tastic updates from my adventures in the world of ballet! Today, I'm whisking you away to the charming town of Ilford, just a hop, skip and a train ride away from my Derbyshire abode.

Now, before I tell you all about my escapades, let me just say - it's all about the tutu. Today's tutu is a statement piece. It's the colour of bubblegum pink, but stiffer than a shopkeeper on a Monday morning. I think it’s my most fabulous tutu ever!

This stiffness made for some quite a challenge getting on the train - my fellow passengers seemed utterly perplexed by my graceful, erm... maneuvering? But don't you worry, I always make sure to keep my chin up, a smile on my face, and my Tutu firmly in place. A ballerina's got to be prepared for the unexpected!

And you know me, always looking out for wildlife, even in bustling Ilford. I spotted a cheeky little squirrel - and just look at this cheeky little thing! [insert picture of a squirrel]

He scampered right by my pink-tastic feet and didn’t bat an eyelid - probably had seen far wilder things in the urban jungle. It made me think - maybe even squirrels can be inspired by a touch of pink and the grace of a tutu! Perhaps the next squirrel we see will be doing a little pirouette? One can always hope.

Anyway, on to the highlight of my trip! I finally found the perfect little independent tea shop, "Tea & Tutus". I am not sure if I am more delighted by the shop's name, its charming décor (a whole corner devoted to ballet paraphernalia! ), or its delicious cupcakes.

The shop's owner, Mary, was a ballet enthusiast herself! Apparently she once danced in the chorus for a touring ballet company when she was just a little girl. "I love pink, tutus, and I adore tea," Mary confessed. My kind of woman, I thought!

Mary gave me all the insider secrets for the local ballet scene - apparently they are holding a charity fundraiser at the weekend where they are offering a dance-off competition with a top prize of...wait for it... a pair of ballet shoes with pink ribbons. I was ready to sign up in a heartbeat, but I was afraid I would be too distracting with my own tutu on. Perhaps I can participate in a more relaxed manner, from the audience, and watch the dancers make the ballet shoes a pink spectacle?

After tea and chat with Mary, I continued exploring. I came across a fabulous little shop called "Ilford Finds", and after hours of searching ( and being mesmerized by a gorgeous vintage brooch that looks suspiciously like a little pink tutu ) found the perfect pink feather boa.

Oh, how I love accessorizing. I felt like a real life princess stepping out of the fairytale while wearing it on my train journey back home, and I was happy as Larry (and definitely much less stiff) on the way back to Derbyshire, after my exciting and very pink Ilford adventure!
