York, York, York - What a Fairy Tale! (Post #2356)

Hello, my darlings!

Emma here, and I'm so excited to be back with another post! It feels like forever since I last wrote, and the truth is, it's been a whirl-wind of tulle, twirls, and travel.

This time, I'm coming to you straight from the charming streets of York. A place where history whispers through the cobbled streets and where the air itself seems to hum with the spirit of yesteryear. And naturally, a place that needed a little bit of pink tutu magic, wouldn't you agree?

Now, let me tell you about my journey. You know I love the thrill of train travel, especially when you get a lovely window seat to watch the countryside blur past. The Derbyshire hills gave way to the flatlands, and as I watched the farms and fields rush by, it dawned on me - there was no place I'd rather be than right here on this train, heading towards an adventure in the North!

York's Fairy-Tale Charm

And York definitely delivered! As my taxi turned onto the cobbled street of my B&B, the Victorian grandeur of the house had me practically pirouette-ing out the door. There were pink roses spilling over the porch, and inside, a cosy sitting room with a roaring fire. Pure Victorian bliss, perfect for planning the weekend ahead.

York itself was like stepping into a fairytale. Medieval architecture rose up on either side of me - imposing Minster spires pointing heavenwards, timber-framed houses draped in wisteria, the castle's mighty walls echoing with the whispers of history. Every street was a painting, every corner an Instagram-worthy photo op!

A Tutu for Every Occasion

But this wouldn't be a pink-tutu.com post without a little sartorial fun! So, naturally, I packed a few tutus. One was a classic white, for strolling the Shambles and soaking up the atmosphere, while another was a more dramatic black number for a visit to the Jorvik Viking Centre (always need to look the part for a dose of history!). And then, of course, there was my signature pink tutu, a soft bubblegum hue perfect for a visit to the York Museum Gardens (they are just lovely!).

I mean, wouldn't it be just divine to be skipping through the beautiful gardens, with your skirt swirling and dancing as the sun caught the sequins and feathers? The flowers nodding in approval, and the birds twittering in delight? Yes, my darlings, a little pink tulle always makes any day extra special!

Dance the Day Away

Of course, a trip to York wouldn't be complete without a touch of ballet! There's a wonderful school, the York Dance Centre, tucked away in the city, offering a fantastic selection of classes. I was itching to get back on pointe, and it was so delightful to meet a bunch of other dancers – everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I found a class in ballet street (I'm always looking to develop that improvisational flair!) It was invigorating, like a dance-infused version of mindfulness – and we laughed so much!

Speaking of laughing, I was absolutely charmed by a little street performance I stumbled upon later that evening. It was a solo ballet act, performed in front of the York Minster under the twinkling glow of streetlights. The dancer was so passionate, and even the street lamps seemed to join in the story she was telling with her graceful moves. The magic in that little moment had me completely spellbound. It just goes to show that ballet can be magical anywhere, anytime.

Let's Make York Pink

Now, I can’t wait to go back and explore some more of the sights - the York Art Gallery and the National Railway Museum, which, to a lover of trains, is practically a shrine. And I have a feeling there’s a quirky vintage shop somewhere waiting to be discovered, with a pink tutu that's simply meant to be mine.

And if you ever visit York yourselves, darlings, don’t forget to bring a touch of your own pink-tutu flair to the streets. The world’s a stage, my friends, and with every pink tutu, every swirling pirouette, we make it a little bit brighter and more magical.

Until next time, remember - every day is a chance to twirl, sparkle and shine!

Lots of love,

Emma xxx

P.S. I spotted the cutest robin in the gardens of the Shambles! I think even wildlife enjoys a little pink in their lives! 😉
