Cambridge Calling: A Tutu-ful Day Out (Post #2361)

Hello, my darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, here, back from a magical day trip to the utterly charming Cambridge! I swear, the moment I set foot in that beautiful city, I knew I was in for a treat – and how right I was!

Before we get into the loveliness of Cambridge itself, I've simply GOT to share my outfit, because this one was truly divine! You all know my love for all things pink, and my favourite shade has been pink since forever! For this little adventure, I donned a darling bubblegum pink tutu – the fluffiest, most twirly one in my collection – with a vintage pink cardigan, white frilly blouse and matching pink pumps. It felt like a ballerina had hopped straight out of a storybook and onto the Cambridge streets, and I honestly couldn't have been happier!

Of course, no journey to Cambridge is complete without a visit to the iconic King's College Chapel. Now, you might think I'm just saying this, but that place is truly breath-taking! It's like stepping back in time, all vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows. The sense of peace and awe just washes over you. It was such a special experience to be surrounded by all that beauty, I actually managed to resist taking selfies (shock horror!), I just couldn't break the spell. I spent ages admiring the architecture, soaking in the history, and generally just letting the magic of it all sink in. It’s no surprise they film so many movies and shows there!

After the chapel, we took a lovely leisurely stroll along the River Cam. I absolutely adored the picturesque scenes – quaint little bridges, ancient buildings with colourful flower boxes and punts gently drifting down the river. The air was filled with a gentle breeze, and the sun was shining so warmly on my rosy cheeks, it felt utterly magical. It reminded me of one of my favourite stories – "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." You can just imagine, I bet, me twirling in my tutu along those pathways as I made up a new story in my head – in between photo shoots, of course.

But wait! It gets better, my dears. As you know, I have a weakness for the theatre. Cambridge, I learnt, is bursting with amazing performance venues. The evening highlight, was attending a thrilling performance of "The Importance of Being Earnest" at the ADC Theatre, right on the edge of the university campus. This theatre was an absolute charmer! The charm and character were just captivating, the stage was just lovely, it was clear a great deal of love went into this venue! I love this kind of theatre. "The Importance of Being Earnest" was just such an absolute classic! A delightful cast, a story bursting with wit and social commentary and all in the most elegant of settings. Oh, I just loved the whole affair! I felt truly elegant – even without a tiarra - and thoroughly indulged. The performance, was definitely an excellent, excellent experience that's going to stay with me.

But the adventures of my day didn't stop there. Being the inquisitive soul I am, I felt the call of nature, and what better way to connect with it than a walk around the Botanical Gardens. As I strolled through the paths, I felt truly grounded, surrounded by colourful blooms, fascinating trees and birdsong that echoed through the gardens. The delicate petals and lush green foliage gave a sense of quietude and serenity I loved. You should’ve seen me - I even did some ballet stretches right there, amidst the beauty. It's truly no wonder I'm always in love with a tutu! We just flow so well together.

Before returning home to Derbyshire – (Yes, I have my trusty train carriage! )– I simply HAD to try some Cambridge Fudge! I’m not one for a sugar rush, I can’t say I indulged, but this is certainly one indulgence I’d recommend to all you gorgeous gourmands. Oh my word – if ever there was a perfect dessert, it was that creamy, rich chocolate fudge.

Cambridge, you truly charmed me. I can’t tell you just how much fun I had today, in this city of stunning architecture, delicious fudge, inspiring art, and all things wonderful! It was a perfect day out in every way, and now I'm ready to settle down with a mug of hot chocolate and write more about it! Oh, and you’ll have to excuse the late post! I do love my little afternoon nap after all!

I’m hoping that, one day, Cambridge becomes my new favorite balletic destination! I already think it will be my next tutu-clad adventure. It certainly left a great, great, lasting impression on this ballerina from Derbyshire.
