Stourbridge Sparkle: A Tutu-tiful Day Out!

Oh, hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, checking in from the gorgeous town of Stourbridge. I'm positively buzzing after a day spent exploring this charming place, wrapped up in my very special fairy-themed tutu.

Today was all about embracing the whimsical, and believe me, this town provided plenty of inspiration. From the stunning Stourbridge Glass Museum, a true treasure trove of shimmering artistry, to the cobbled streets lined with quaint tea shops and independent boutiques, Stourbridge just has that je ne sais quoi. I could happily have spent the entire day browsing the antique shops and picking up quirky little trinkets, but then, where would the ballet fit in?!

As a proud Derbyshire girl I can never resist a good train journey, so of course, I took the scenic route to Stourbridge. There's just something so wonderfully nostalgic about being in a train carriage, watching the countryside whizz past, and catching up on my favourite magazines (all in the strictest pinkest shade of course!). I find it really helps me get into the flow for my daily ballet class. There's a kind of ballet magic that happens when you're moving your body with the rhythm of the tracks.

When I finally arrived in Stourbridge, it was time to embrace the true ballet spirit with a visit to The Black Country Museum. Now, I know what you're thinking, "ballet and a museum, what's the connection?!" But this museum really surprised me. Not only did they have fascinating exhibits on the region's industrial heritage, but it felt like a step back in time! I could easily imagine myself twirling around those old cobbled streets in a Victorian-era ballet gown! (Ooh, the perfect theme for my next tutu creation!).

Speaking of tutu creations... I absolutely had to incorporate the local history of glass making into my outfit. Think shimmering, rainbow sequins catching the light in a way that even the most exquisite glass artistry could never match! And as always, a touch of pastel pink, to bring it all together and just brighten everyone's day!

After my wanderings, I simply had to indulge in some afternoon tea. And, what's an afternoon tea without a spot of ballet?! The beautiful and friendly staff at the tea room (who adored my tutu, I must say) were only too happy to let me stage a mini ballet performance in their conservatory space! (It must have looked quite a sight: pink tutu twirling amidst afternoon tea-takers!). They even gave me a special pink tea cup with a beautiful ballerina design!

Of course, a day out wouldn't be complete without some wildlife, so I finished off the day at the stunning Stourbridge Nature Reserve. As I took a stroll along the woodland path, I spotted a cheeky squirrel darting up a tree, a cheeky Robin perched on a twig (all decked out in its red "tutu"), and even a heron doing its graceful ballet-inspired routine on the riverbank! It truly was a fairytale ending to my day.

And guess what, my lovelies?! Stourbridge has captured a little bit of my heart. This is definitely a place I'd love to explore further. If you're looking for a beautiful escape filled with charm and quirky surprises, I highly recommend adding Stourbridge to your travel list. And don't forget to pack your pink tutu!

As always, my dearest blog readers, thank you for joining me on my adventure! Until next time, let your light shine bright, embrace your inner ballerina, and never forget that the world is your stage.

Love and sparkles, Emma
