Twickenham Calling! A Pancake Tutu Adventure 🥞🩰

#TutuBlog Post #2432

1st March, 2003

Hello darlings! Emma here, your favourite tutu-obsessed blogger, writing to you from the heart of… Twickenham! Can you believe it? A whole week has flown by since my last post. But oh, what a week it’s been! I’ve been swept off my feet by adventures, tutus, and a whole lot of twirling!

You see, darling, this week has been all about getting back to my roots – my ballet roots, that is! The call of the barre proved too much to resist, so I packed my bag (which included a brand new, gloriously pink tutu, obviously!), hopped on a train, and headed down to Twickenham to catch a show at the illustrious Richmond Theatre. Now, the show itself was amazing – “The Nutcracker,” darling, what’s more classic than that? The dancing was divine, the costumes a riot of colour, and the orchestra just breathtaking. But the best part? I got to see my best friend, Emily, who is currently living in Richmond, and her new apartment is absolutely adorable.

Of course, the weekend wasn’t all about theatre. On Saturday morning, we took a brisk walk along the Thames Path – sunshine streaming, birds chirping – pure bliss! The Thames Path is always such a joy, darling, it's so peaceful and pretty. I just can’t help but feel utterly content watching the swans and ducks glide along the water. They always remind me of ballerinas gracefully gliding across the stage! Later that day, Emily and I decided to get all extra and visit the National Theatre in London. What a magnificent building it is, with its sleek modern lines and the river running just behind. We just stood there, gawking for ages at the theatre and all the people in costumes bustling about! The perfect ending to a fabulous day.

The afternoon was dedicated to, yes, you guessed it, a pink tutu hunt. I couldn’t resist popping into a few vintage shops in the area. I swear, it's like these shops were made for me - layers of silk and lace and tulle, waiting for me to bring them back to life! Now, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for tutus - I think they are a girl's ultimate power move, darling, so I did leave the shops with a gorgeous vintage tulle skirt in a gorgeous shade of pale pink. It's going to look amazing when I put together a brand new tutu look for our upcoming visit to a wildlife reserve!

Speaking of wildlife, darling, can we just talk about the pancake tutu?! Yes, I did say a pancake tutu. Remember how I told you I was heading back to my ballet roots? Well, I took a rather interesting detour through the culinary world! I stumbled across this delightful cafe in Richmond where they made these adorable, little pancake creations shaped like, guess what? A tutu! I mean, come on, how could I resist? I snapped a few photos to post here on my blog, of course, and devoured every last morsel. Deliciously decadent and, yes, undeniably girly. And for the record, that is how a pancake can inspire you to do the splits, darling!

Honestly, it's moments like these, like the discovery of the perfect pink tutu or a plate of delicious pancake art, that remind me why I love being a ballerina and why I adore travelling around England by train (or by horse, whenever the fancy strikes me). It’s all about embracing the unexpected, exploring the unknown, and, of course, never ever leaving home without my pink tutu.

Right, darlings, time to go and get back to my own ballet-inspired creative endeavors – what I’ll be working on today will have to be a surprise! Just keep an eye out on my blog for new posts every single day at www.pink-tutu.com - and in the meantime, don't forget to wear your pink tutu with pride, embrace the pink power, and let’s all take a class or two to get our twirling game on!

Sending you all my love and ballet kisses!

Yours truly, Emma
