Crosby Calling! 🩰💕 (Post #2454)

Hello my lovely Tutu Tribe! 👋💖 Emma here, ready to take you on another whirlwind adventure, this time to the charming seaside town of Crosby, just across the Mersey from my beloved Liverpool. You might know Crosby for its iconic "Another Place" installation, a line of over 100 cast-iron figures staring out towards the horizon – truly mesmerizing! But for me, it was all about a certain gorgeous, glamorous theatre production of "The Nutcracker" starring the dazzling Royal Ballet!

Now, let’s talk tutus! ✨ For this trip, I went for a showstopping cyan tutu - a true colour of the sea and sky. I felt so elegant in it, as if I was floating on air. I can’t tell you how much I love those delicate tulle layers. Just a whisper against my skin! Of course, it had a gorgeous pink satin lining. Can’t resist that splash of my favourite colour! 💖

Speaking of pink, I must tell you about my absolutely divine train journey down to Crosby! Imagine - vintage velvet seats, huge panoramic windows, a gorgeous afternoon light streaming across the countryside. Oh, the dreamy backdrop for my bright pink tutu! 🚂💕 It really made me feel like a glamorous ballerina escaping to the seaside for a spell of magical enchantment.

Speaking of enchantment, I don’t think anything can beat the pure joy and magic of "The Nutcracker"! 🎄 It's a Christmas tradition in many parts of the world, but honestly, every season is the perfect time for it! The whole performance is pure escapism. There’s the sweetness and wonder of the first act, with its dazzling Christmas Eve party, the transformation of Clara's nutcracker into a prince, the snow-laden streets with the graceful Snowflakes, the glorious Christmas tree growing ever-higher.

Then, Act Two is just spectacular! The sugarplum fairies, the Spanish dancers, the Chinese dancers – so beautifully presented, and oh, the gorgeous costumes! Each time I see this show, it gives me butterflies in my stomach, even after all these years.

The Royal Ballet never disappoints! 🏆 I was particularly in awe of the performance of the principal dancer. Her grace and precision were unbelievable, every gesture and move infused with heart and spirit. It truly brought tears to my eyes! 😭💖 Every single detail, the costumes, the set, the music…it was perfection. I was truly living out one of my dreams.

As a lover of ballet and all things sparkly, the theatre trip felt so magical! 💫 But this isn’t the only thing that had me dancing with joy during this trip to Crosby. I found the whole town just adorable. There's this delightful, whimsical energy that perfectly matches my "Pink Tutu" spirit. 💕 I was thrilled to explore its charming little streets lined with colourful shops and cafes. Every turn revealed a hidden gem - whether it was a cute boutique with handcrafted treasures, a delightful cafe offering delectable afternoon tea, or a cosy bookstore overflowing with literary wonders.

I even took a detour through the Antony Gormley "Another Place" sculpture installation. I adore those iron figures looking out to sea, like sentinels on the horizon! It's an experience that stays with you for a while, reminding you of the connection between the human world and the vastness of nature. I even managed to get a pretty awesome selfie with one of the figures. (Let's just say the setting sun created the perfect lighting, haha!) 📸

Naturally, a trip to the coast wouldn’t be complete without some wildlife encounters! 🐋 I ventured down to the Crosby Beach to see the local seabird colonies, particularly the playful kittiwakes and the graceful gulls that seem to effortlessly dance through the air. I even managed to spot a curious seal lazing about on a rock. He didn’t seem too bothered by my bright pink tutu. (Actually, he seemed rather intrigued - it did get his attention, I’ll give it that!) 🤣

You guys know my love for a good picnic in the sunshine! 🧺 And the fresh air of Crosby's seaside made for the perfect setting. I laid out a pink and white checkered picnic blanket, packed with my favourite homemade goodies - a raspberry and cream cheese baguette, crunchy cucumber and avocado salad, and a cup of delicious peppermint tea! The sea breeze and the sounds of the gulls added to the whole idyllic picture. 💕

And let's not forget about a good ballet session to complete this adventure! Crosby might not have a ballet studio, but luckily there was a lovely gym a short walk from my hotel that was equipped with a proper ballet barre. I’ve never been shy about finding places to practice – it's important to always keep those dance skills sharp, right?! 😉 Even though it was just a quick session, I had the chance to put my “cyan tutu” to the test - and let me tell you, it performed wonderfully! 🤩

So, this journey was another incredible adventure in the name of ballet and fun! It’s not just the iconic landmarks or the gorgeous performances, but also the delightful, unexpected details, that makes travel such an amazing experience. As I always say, every place holds a unique story, waiting to be explored. So, go out there and get lost in the magic! 💖🩰

Don’t forget, if you want to share your own “pink tutu” adventures, don't be shy! Send me your photos, your stories, your inspiration - I can’t wait to hear all about them!

Remember, life is for living and dancing - with or without a tutu! 😊

See you in the next post,

Emma
