Carshalton: Tutu Time and Train Tracks

Helloooo my darlings! It's your favourite tutu-loving blogger Emma, back with a whirl of pink-tastic adventures from Carshalton! As you know, I love to flit about the UK and today I hopped aboard a gorgeous steam train for a trip to this charming town, nestled amongst the lush green countryside.

This time, my sartorial choice was a fiery red tutu – just imagine the glorious contrast against the emerald green foliage! My tulle swirled around me like a dancing flame as I boarded the train, earning curious glances and approving smiles from fellow passengers. It seems that a red tutu can brighten even the most ordinary commute.

After a rather picturesque train ride, we arrived in Carshalton, a delightful little town with a distinct air of charm. It felt almost like stepping into a period piece with its cobblestone streets, historic buildings and tranquil gardens. I could definitely imagine myself waltzing down one of the avenues in a flowing gown, my red tutu providing a striking counterpoint to the pastel hues of the quaint buildings.

Speaking of the garden, Carshalton is known for its stunning 'The Beeches', a stunning park teeming with life! A beautiful Victorian walled garden, The Beeches was once the home of an impressive collection of rhododendrons – just imagine the colour! Although the rhododendrons are currently sleeping (shh, they’re hibernating until spring!), the rest of the park is ablaze with vibrant greenery. It’s the perfect setting for a ballerina’s impromptu pirouettes! And of course, I couldn’t resist a quick spin around the flower beds, my red tutu whispering amongst the blossoming rosebushes.

After a light lunch in the sunshine (and let’s be honest, I couldn't resist a pink milkshake), I headed over to Carshalton House and its stunning walled garden. The house itself has a certain stately air, hinting at the grand ballrooms and formal dinners of yesteryear. Imagine myself swirling through the ballroom in a frothy, pale pink tutu! Ah, the elegance!

Of course, no trip to Carshalton would be complete without a visit to the famous Carshalton Ponds. A haven for wildlife, these ponds are a delight to wander around, spotting the occasional heron, kingfisher, and even a water vole or two! It’s fascinating how nature thrives in the heart of a town, making it feel like a secret oasis. And wouldn’t you know it, the reflection of the sky in the water seemed to perfectly complement my bright red tutu – I felt like a graceful bird flitting across the pond!

As the day drifted into twilight, I realised how Carshalton had stolen a little bit of my heart. The serene atmosphere, the captivating history, the picturesque landscapes… it felt almost magical! Perhaps a little pink tutu magic even.

To add to the magic, I made sure to visit The Greyhound, a traditional pub nestled in the heart of the town. A delightful place with friendly locals, welcoming staff, and, of course, a fabulous pint of beer. Now, my fellow tutu-loving adventurers, you know how much I adore a good pub experience. I even found a couple of locals intrigued by my red tutu, who started talking about their childhood memories of dance classes and their own passion for ballet! Let’s face it, tutus are a great conversation starter! I swear, there are some brilliant, hidden tutu-lovers in every nook and cranny!

So there you have it, another amazing day spent in a lovely little town, all with my faithful tutu by my side. I left Carshalton with a lightness in my heart and a sense of wonder in my soul. It’s all thanks to the power of a little red tutu!
