Bradford Bound: A Pink Tutu Adventure!

Post 2593 - August 9th, 2003

Hello my darlings! Today, I’m swapping my trusty Derbyshire lanes for the vibrant streets of Bradford – and believe me, I'm absolutely thrilled!

This weekend has been all about colour, energy, and of course, the fabulous tutus, and you all know how much I love them, especially the ones that make a statement!

Remember those luscious orange ones I told you about in my last post? They are going to be the stars of my trip! I’m all about adding a splash of pink, of course, so imagine the most stunningly vivid mix – an orange tutu that glows under the afternoon sun, a little hint of blush pink around the neck with some cherry red detail... it's pure perfection.

But enough about fashion! My Bradford trip is about so much more than just clothes.

First things first: the journey. You can't imagine my excitement as I boarded that beautiful, vintage train from Derby station! I just love the click-clacking of the wheels, the soft rocking, the smell of fresh air and worn leather. You see, train journeys have a magical aura, they whisper secrets, ignite imagination, and they let you breathe and feel.

Now, Bradford. What a vibrant, exciting city! There's something so captivating about the architecture – those towering Victorian buildings with their beautiful details, and then the cobbled streets, perfect for wandering around. I had a bit of time to kill before heading to the Grand Opera House for my show later tonight, and I decided to head over to Lister Park. It's a beautiful oasis, full of lush greenery, pretty water features, and friendly squirrels. I had a little picnic, and I can't help but share some wildlife wisdom. Watching those squirrels scamper, chattering and stashing their treasures makes me think: it's okay to gather treasures, it's okay to indulge in small joys, and it's okay to just enjoy the moment, the sun, the beautiful scenery... I think I learned a lesson in pure, simple, happiness today.

But, I can’t wait for this evening - I'm off to see “Giselle”! Now, you know that my favourite thing is ballet - I always get goosebumps from that combination of beauty, strength, grace, and emotion on stage. Today is going to be magical, I just know it!

As the sun dipped lower in the sky and cast long, golden shadows across the city, I took a detour to the city's historic Wool Exchange, an incredible, Victorian masterpiece. Its beautiful interior filled me with such inspiring feelings! The arches, the light, the air - I could almost see all the fascinating stories, dreams and hopes echoing from the past. Then, it was time for a delicious supper at one of Bradford’s charming cafés, and let’s just say I did try a couple of Yorkshire puddings! The joy is contagious when you are amongst the beautiful things in life, and the people who surround you - that makes Bradford even more charming!

Later, with the orange tutu swaying lightly around me, I settled into my seat at the Grand Opera House with the biggest, pinkest smile I could muster! Every performance brings its own unique kind of energy - the excitement, the anticipatory murmurs from the audience around me - and when the curtain went up... Well, my friends, I’ll just have to save my words for tomorrow, because I simply have no words to express the magic of ‘Giselle’.

So there you have it - another whirlwind of an adventure is behind me! Now, back home to Derbyshire. Tomorrow I’m going to catch a ride on the equine express. The horse has a beautiful coat that looks just like spun sunshine, I can’t wait to feel the wind in my hair, and share my day with you, my sweet, pink tutu family!

Oh! And don’t forget, you can join the pink-tutu revolution! Spread the word, and embrace the joy of ballet! After all, life is a stage, and everyone deserves to dance!

Until tomorrow!

With all my love,

Emma. www.pink-tutu.com
