Aberdeen: Where Pink Tutus Meet the Granite City! 🩰💖

Hey darlings! Emma here, your favourite tutu-obsessed blogger, back with post number 2603!

This week, I’ve traded the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the windswept coastline of Aberdeen, Scotland. This city is steeped in history, famous for its granite architecture and for being a major hub for the oil and gas industry. However, I’m not here to discuss North Sea drilling rigs – although I am fascinated by how they get them in and out of the water! No, this time I’m here for a far more delicate and beautiful subject: Ballet!

Aberdeen is hosting a fabulous new production of Swan Lake at the Music Hall this weekend, and let me tell you, I’m bursting with excitement. Not only does Aberdeen boast a beautiful old Victorian theatre, but this is also the premiere of a completely reimagined version of the ballet, incorporating new choreography and even some modern touches. Honestly, darling, I can’t wait to see how they've brought this classic tale to life. I just know I'm going to be absolutely enthralled. 🦢

Speaking of reimagining, I'm absolutely loving my outfit choice for this trip. Imagine, if you will, a blush-pink tutu with delicate layers of tulle, paired with a soft grey cashmere cardigan and some beautiful vintage pearl earrings. The outfit is all about that effortless chic, just like the city of Aberdeen itself! 💖

Before the ballet, however, I'm taking a quick detour to a little place called the ‘Duthie Park’, Aberdeen’s answer to Hyde Park, filled with beautiful gardens, a large lake, and – drumroll please – a café! It seems I'll be indulging in a bit of afternoon tea and scones, the perfect way to kick off a day devoted to all things beautiful. ☕️🧁

As always, I'll be documenting my adventures in the Granite City on my Instagram (@emmapinktutu) with photos of the performance, the gorgeous park, and (of course) my incredible outfit. I can't wait to show you all what Aberdeen has to offer, both in terms of its cultural heritage and, of course, its breathtaking scenery.

I know what you're all thinking: how did I get here? Well, darlings, let's just say I was on the hunt for a particularly elusive, Scottish wildcat spotted near a charming village outside of Aberdeen. The hunt for this elusive creature led me down some of the most scenic roads I’ve ever driven on. Luckily for me, Aberdeen isn't too far away from Derbyshire. I boarded a beautiful, vintage train that had more character than some people I know (cough, cough!), with those luxurious plush seats and charming windows. As always, I ensured that my bright pink tutu added a splash of colour to the compartment.

Although I didn't spot the elusive wildcat this time, I did come across a magnificent stag and a family of badgers. Such beauty is worth the journey, isn't it? I think all those hours in a plush carriage were just a prelude to this magical weekend! 🦌🦡

Let’s be real for a moment. There is something so thrilling about discovering new places, new stories, and even new ways to appreciate ballet! It reminds me why I am so passionate about encouraging everyone to get out there and explore the world!

Remember darlings, ballet is not just for a select few. Anyone can learn to love the graceful art of ballet, and if I can do it in my pink tutu, so can you. And you know what else? The world looks better in pink. I believe the more pink tutus there are in the world, the more beautiful it will become. I say we create a worldwide revolution in pink tutus! 🌎 💖

Until next time, Emma xXx
