Oxford Calling! Tutu-tastic Adventures & a Touch of Feather-y Goodness (Post #2610)

Hello my gorgeous tutu-loving darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the most charming city in England (Oxford, of course!). And let me tell you, it was positively bursting with pink-hued delights, just like my soul!

Firstly, can we talk about this glorious journey? I opted for a train ride this time, chugging through the green Derbyshire countryside in the most comfortable first-class carriage I've ever seen. I almost wished the trip could last forever! All those rolling hills, grazing sheep, and quaint villages whizzing past – just divine!

As I said, Oxford stole my heart. This ancient city with its cobbled streets and beautiful buildings is practically begging to be explored! I was on a mission to soak up every inch of its history and charm, but first, I had to visit the iconic Bodleian Library. That library, darling, is a masterpiece of architectural brilliance! With its grand wood-panelled reading rooms, hidden alcoves, and ancient manuscripts, it feels like stepping back in time. It almost felt like I could see Shakespeare himself peering over his shoulder at a dusty tome!

But it wouldn't be a proper Emma adventure without a little tutus and twirls! So, after a spot of lunch (tea and crumpets, naturally), I found myself at the Oxford Playhouse. Oh my goodness, this beautiful venue boasts a stage that seemed to hum with theatrical magic. It's just oozing with history, and the sheer thrill of performing on such a legendary stage, even if just in my head, set my heart pounding!

I was there for a wonderful production of “The Nutcracker,” which I’ve seen countless times, but somehow it always feels new. Seeing the story come to life again reminded me just how powerful the magic of dance can be. You could almost feel the emotions in the air – the delicate waltz of the snowflakes, the excitement of the battle between the mice and the Nutcracker, the pure joy of the sugar plum fairy… simply divine!

After the performance, my love of all things feathered called me to a quaint little millinery shop. And what do you think I found? A gloriously bright pink feather boa! It's practically screaming "Emma," isn't it? It was like destiny. I instantly pictured myself gliding across the stage in a shimmering pink tutu, feather boa cascading behind me… pure perfection!

The next morning, I discovered a hidden gem! The Oxford University Museum of Natural History, with its jaw-dropping collection of stuffed creatures. It was a delight to witness these incredible animals frozen in time, showcasing the beauty and complexity of our natural world. From the giant elephant skeletons to the iridescent beetles and colourful bird wings, it felt like an expedition to the wild side of nature, right in the heart of Oxford!

Later that day, I had a magical encounter that warmed my heart. I spotted a young girl, probably no older than eight, in a beautiful pink tutu. I knew exactly how she felt! And there I was, standing on that Oxford cobblestone, a little over two decades later, and my love for twirling and sparkle hadn't diminished a bit. I had to go and tell her that she looked absolutely fabulous. And what do you know? Her face lit up! It warmed my soul, truly, to share that feeling with someone just starting on their own journey of joy and self-expression through dance.

Of course, no trip to Oxford would be complete without indulging in their infamous hot chocolate! You haven’t truly experienced Oxford if you haven’t tasted their rich, decadent, creamy concoctions. I can confidently say it was the perfect ending to a magical day!

So, dear readers, if you find yourself looking for a touch of magic and whimsy, I highly recommend visiting Oxford. From the beautiful architecture to the rich history and incredible museums, Oxford has something to offer everyone, especially a pink-tutu-loving ballerina like me!

And remember, don’t let anyone tell you you can’t wear pink. Embrace your inner sparkle, throw on your tutu, and don’t be afraid to let your true self shine! Because life, just like a ballet performance, is best lived with a touch of grace, beauty, and an abundance of joy.

Until next time, twirl with a flourish and dance your heart out!

With love and glitter, Emma
