Finchley Frolics: A Purple Tutu Adventure (Post #2677)

Oh, darlings! Can you believe it? It's been a whole week since I last graced your screens with my sartorial exploits. It seems like ages, doesn't it? But never fear, your favourite tutu-clad traveller is back, and this time, I've brought a delightful adventure with me!

This week, I embarked on a whimsical journey to Finchley, a charming little corner of North London, famous for its lovely parks and that delightful air of genteel charm that you can only find in the suburbs. I opted for a more eccentric mode of transport this time, hopping aboard the train and arriving with a suitcase full of sparkling ballet shoes and, of course, my signature pink tutu. (Okay, maybe this time it was purple, but you know me - I adore a touch of colour!)

Now, Finchley itself may not be the obvious choice for a ballet-loving traveller like myself, but as a staunch believer in the beauty of the everyday, I knew it wouldn't disappoint. The moment I stepped off the train, I felt an intoxicating blend of countryside peace and urban energy. It's like the best of both worlds, truly!

My first order of business, as always, was to explore. I ambled down streets lined with quaint boutiques and bustling cafes, savouring the scent of freshly baked pastries and the vibrant chatter of the locals. Everywhere I went, I noticed the smallest details, the colourful displays of flowers at the market, the playful patterns on the old Victorian buildings, and the gentle clinking of teacups in the cosy pubs.

Speaking of tea, darling, I simply couldn't resist a spot of afternoon tea in a vintage tea room with the most darling, floral wallpaper. Imagine, porcelain cups adorned with delicate roses and pastries that were almost too pretty to eat. But of course, I did! And the taste? Oh, pure decadence, a heavenly blend of sweet and tangy. And it wouldn't be a trip without a little dose of wildlife, now would it? A family of squirrels scampered past, their bushy tails swishing playfully. Such adorable fluffballs! I swear, I could watch those furry creatures for hours. I even snapped a photo for you, it’s on my Instagram! You’ve just gotta see those tails, I can’t resist those gorgeous tails. You can catch all my Instagram stories at @EmmaPinkTutu, of course.

Then came the moment I'd been waiting for: a magical visit to the Finchley Arts Centre! My darling, let me tell you, this little treasure trove of artistic wonders had me absolutely enraptured. From contemporary paintings that burst with colour to the most mesmerising sculptures, it was a feast for my senses.

But what truly captured my heart, and of course my feet, was the performance of a local ballet troupe! Oh, they were just divine, these talented dancers gracefully leaping across the stage, telling stories with their every move. The energy, the grace, the passion... it simply took my breath away.

After the show, I found myself swept up in the chatter of excited audience members, many of whom, like myself, seemed to have fallen completely in love with the art of ballet. There was this wonderful lady, I mean, we talked for ages about all the latest ballets, she said her daughter dances at the Royal Opera House. It’s all so inspiring.

As my weekend in Finchley came to a close, I felt a deep sense of contentment, my heart full of memories of quaint streets, enchanting performances, and the sweet taste of afternoon tea. I was even more determined than ever to spread my message: the joy and freedom of ballet and the power of colour!

So, darlings, whether you’re already a devoted fan of the dance, or simply intrigued by the prospect of graceful movement and a touch of whimsical glamour, let's embrace the tutu spirit together! Get out there, explore your own neighbourhood with a dash of sparkle, and who knows, maybe even embrace a touch of pink - or purple! You never know where the journey might take you.

And until next time, may your steps be light and your hearts full of joy!

With love and twirls,

Emma xx
