Small Heath, A Pink Leotard, and Dreams of Pirouettes (Blog Post #2770)

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-loving ballerina Emma, and guess what? I'm on a brand new adventure, and guess what else? It's just as fabulously pink and fluffy as ever! 🩰💖

This time, I'm in Small Heath! Who knew this charming little spot existed? It's a world away from my dear Derbyshire, but just as charming! And honestly, what's a girl to do but to spread the pink tutu gospel in new and exciting locations, right?

This morning started with a cup of steaming hot tea and a cheeky slice of Victoria sponge, both enjoyed in my comfy little hotel room, the air practically humming with the excitement of what the day would bring. I had packed my trusty pink leotard, a fluffy tutu that would make even the Queen jealous, and my lucky pointe shoes, of course! 😉

After a stroll around the cobblestone streets, taking in the beautiful architecture (the quaint houses have such wonderful history!) and spotting some cute wildlife, I stumbled upon the most beautiful ballet studio, a hidden gem nestled amongst the hustle and bustle of Small Heath! I knew this was it, the perfect place to feel the joy of ballet and spread a little pink tutu magic!

The studio, a light-filled space with mirrored walls, had the sweetest smell of freshly-cut wood and beeswax. There were stacks of colourful tutus lining the shelves, just begging to be twirled in! And I just couldn't resist slipping on my lucky pink leotard. I mean, what's a ballerina without a little pink? 💖

The class was full of lovely ladies, all smiles and ready to work. I felt so welcomed, even with my bright pink leotard – which let’s face it, is not the typical studio attire. I can already feel that this will become a favourite haunt for my visits to Small Heath.

After a long, sweaty session, my muscles burning in all the right places, I indulged in a hearty afternoon tea. My eyes lit up like a Christmas tree when I saw the dainty finger sandwiches and the fluffy, pink-iced cupcakes! I swear, it was meant to be. 💖🧁

But the fun wasn't over! Later that evening, I treated myself to a show at the local theatre. It was a magical performance of Tchaikovsky’s "Swan Lake". Watching those talented dancers effortlessly glide across the stage, their movements so graceful and powerful, fuelled my love for ballet even more. I may not have wings like a swan, but I can definitely dream, right?

One thing I absolutely love about my travels is the chance to get out and explore the world on foot, or even better, on horseback! This time I decided to do something a little different – I hopped on a local train! Let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like being whisked away on a journey, admiring the rolling countryside passing by. It’s so much more personal than flying, and definitely less stressful! 🚂

My day in Small Heath was absolutely wonderful, a complete whirlwind of ballet, pink tutus, and magical memories! Every single moment was filled with sunshine and smiles.

And to think, it’s not even the end of the adventure! I can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings. Stay tuned my darlings, for the pink tutu magic continues… 💕✨

So, my dear readers, will you be joining me in this delightful pink wonderland? Spread the love for ballet and the colour pink, and let’s turn the world into a beautiful, pink tutu ballet show!

Much love,

Emma 💋
