West Bridgford: Tutu Tales and Train Travels

Oh my darlings! Can you believe it's February already? It seems like only yesterday I was twirling my way into the New Year. But this week's been all about new adventures, so let's dive right in!

First things first, I’ve been making a habit of these weekend getaways and you’d never believe my chosen mode of transport… the train, darling! Yes, it’s all about the romance and the dreamy scenery for me. It feels a lot like a grand stage, with the carriage as my private box and the landscapes constantly changing. And yes, I do love a good train dress – anything flowing and pink with a hint of tulle, naturally!

My destination this time was a little town called West Bridgford, nestled in Nottinghamshire. Charming, wasn’t it? I’d never been, and it was absolutely delightful! The whole place felt like a step back in time. There’s just something so quaint about the quaint shops, little cafes, and winding lanes. It reminded me so much of a charming English village right out of a novel.

Speaking of winding, did you see this week's blog title?! It’s a real twisty, twirly, tutu-tastic kind of title for a tutu-obsessed girl like me. My weekend involved quite a bit of spinning around myself!

So what was the reason for my trip to West Bridgford? A gorgeous ballet school! Oh, the joy of the barre, the delight of pliés and chassés. There's truly no place I'd rather be. It's like I enter another world, where everything just flows. Every plié feels like a beautiful bloom, every grand jeté, a graceful flight. It just feels right, you know? It feels like… home. And, in that gorgeous space, adorned with pink tutus and shimmering mirrors, the world fades away. It's just me and my tutu.

As I gracefully pirouetted through the studios, I knew I had to find the perfect dress for this weekend's ballet extravaganza – a grand show in Nottingham! My aim, darling, is always to find something extraordinary! And, believe me, I didn’t disappoint myself! I discovered a vintage dress that was positively pink paradise. A dream! This soft, blush hue and flowing chiffon… you see, darling, I'm absolutely enchanted! My dress was, dare I say, the perfect ballerina bloom! It’s what made this West Bridgford adventure really blossom.

Speaking of bloom, the weekend brought us a beautiful display of spring's vibrant hues! We got sunshine! And it's the most lovely way to see Nottingham and the nearby countryside! From the beautiful Wollaton Hall and Deer Park to the majestic Nottingham Castle, all awash in vibrant spring colours, it was almost a real-life fairytale! I don’t know about you, darlings, but there’s something deeply inspiring about the sight of blooming flora in spring!

A wander through the park – in my beautiful vintage dress – felt positively magical. I was surrounded by fluffy bunnies, cheeky squirrels, and birds chirping happily. Nature always inspires me, but today, I had an extra pep in my step.

But wait! This trip to West Bridgford wasn’t only about dance, sunshine, and floral beauty… oh, no. I’m afraid that I’m starting to be quite the gourmand… or perhaps I should say gourmette! You know, since we’re in a ballet themed wonderland! It just seems more… graceful.

West Bridgford’s local deli was positively divine, filled with delicious artisan breads, cheese, pastries… a total indulgence. Imagine, my lovelies, fresh sourdough, soft Camembert, and delicate raspberry éclairs. Oh, my goodness! What could be better? For a girly lunch, this was heaven! And then I was all ready to go back to my comfy little hotel… and into a pink tutu for my big performance at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham!

This ballet is called ‘La Sylphide’. And let me tell you, the costumes were beautiful. I always feel my best when wearing a tutu! It gives me this wonderful air of confidence. Like a feather, light as air, I could leap and dance. The beautiful lighting and dramatic set transported me right onto the stage with the dancers! My oh my! It was a magical evening full of delicate steps and grand emotions. What can I say, I’m so glad I embraced my tutu obsession!

As the curtains closed on ‘La Sylphide’, and I made my way back to the station for my return to Derbyshire, it was the end of another extraordinary adventure.

I love how every journey brings new discoveries – from the thrill of traveling by train, to discovering new towns, and to enjoying the perfect pink dress for the occasion. And the sheer delight of sharing these experiences with you!

So, my dear darlings, until next time! Until the next story to tell! But before I go, don’t forget to check out my little shop on Pink Tutu.com - it’s where you can get your hands on your own enchanting pink tutu, you know.

Remember, my aim is to get the whole world dancing in pink. Together, let's make the world a more glamorous, sparkly, and pink-tutu filled place!

Lots of love and pirouettes,

Emma x
