Bilston Bound: Feathering My Nest in a Tutu! 🩰✨

Hello darlings! Emma here, ready to whisk you off to a whirlwind of tulle and travel. Buckle up, it's going to be a pink one!

As I pen this post, I'm perched in my carriage, the rhythmic clip-clop of hooves lulling me into a state of blissful anticipation. I'm on my way to Bilston! A small town nestled in the heart of the West Midlands, and where my pink tutu will soon be gracing the stage of a magnificent, historic theatre!

This trip has been in the planning for weeks, and the excitement has been building faster than a pirouette in a hurricane. It’s not every day you get to perform for a town brimming with history and character.

But you know me, a trip is never just about the destination, it’s the journey!

The morning began, of course, with a pink-tinted sunrise. I woke up, fuelled by the sunshine and a mug of Earl Grey, and whipped up a quick breakfast of porridge and berries (don’t judge! It’s all about keeping that energy level high for a day of dancing).

My wardrobe choice? Well, you can probably guess. My gorgeous feather tutu! It’s a dream – a swirling confection of pink feathers and chiffon, it makes me feel like a ballet bird about to take flight. I paired it with a simple white tank top (gotta show off those toned arms after all that barre work!) and my trusty ballet flats. You can't go wrong with a classic, darling!

The ride to the station was a joy. A gentle, crisp breeze rustled the leaves of the trees, and the sun was peeking out between the clouds, casting playful shadows. As I arrived, the platform buzzed with the excitement of travellers headed to all corners of the land. I love the atmosphere of train stations, it's a kaleidoscope of humanity and adventure!

Once I was settled in, with a book (Jane Eyre, of course, a timeless classic that always transports me!) and a hot chocolate, the world began to blur into a landscape of green fields, quaint villages, and sleepy towns. It’s incredible how a train journey can so quickly take you away from your worries, isn’t it?

And speaking of worry, a dear friend of mine recently told me that some people still scoff at the idea of adults in tutus. My answer? Piffle, darling! Ballet is an art form for all ages. You are never too old, or too young, to embrace the joy of twirling, leaping and expressing yourself through movement. The beauty of a tutu transcends age – it represents joy, grace, and the power of movement. And believe me, you can have a great time whether you're a seasoned professional, a complete novice, or somewhere in between!

I'm on a mission, you see. A mission to make the world a brighter, twirlier place, one pink tutu at a time!

The landscape began to change as the train journey approached its end, the rolling green countryside replaced by the gentle incline of the Black Country. The industrial heartland of the West Midlands always feels to me like a different world – full of stories and echoes of the past.

But, despite the shift in landscape, one thing remained constant: the excitement bubbling within me, a feeling as pure and joyful as a single pirouette.

And that excitement, my dears, is about to be released on the stage. The anticipation is palpable, but let's not get ahead of ourselves! I'll save all the performance details for tomorrow.

I can’t wait to share my Bilston experience with you. Until then, remember: it’s never too late to embrace the dance! Wear your tutus with pride, and spread the pink joy.

Until next time, my darlings!

Your devoted Tutuista, Emma

P.S. Speaking of pink, have you spotted my new favorite scarf? It's a beautiful blush pink with a delicate floral print - the perfect addition to my pink wardrobe!

P.P.S If you're interested in trying out ballet yourself, I highly recommend searching online for a local class. Most ballet schools welcome beginners! You’ll find an incredible community of fellow enthusiasts. Don’t worry about being “too old”, remember: the only age limit is the one you set for yourself! And remember, it’s all about the fun!
