Bishop Auckland: Fairy Tale Tutu Travels!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, reporting live from the enchanting county of Durham!

Today, I'm sharing a whirlwind adventure to the charming town of Bishop Auckland, a journey that started with a most exciting train ride, and ended with me twirling through a fairy-tale forest. Buckle up, loves, because this one is going to be a real hoot!

My day began as it always does, with a cup of tea and a glance at my trusty Pink-Tutu planner. Bishop Auckland had been on my list for months, ever since I saw a photograph of its stunning cathedral, a gothic masterpiece standing tall against the rolling hills. And what better way to explore a historical town than in a whimsical, fairy-themed tutu, don't you think? I decided on a blush pink confection with a scattering of sparkly silver butterflies – perfectly channeling my inner fairy princess, if I do say so myself!

The train journey was a joy – the Derbyshire countryside is a picture postcard in itself. I enjoyed watching the scenery change from rolling hills to sleepy villages, occasionally waving to a farmer or two with a jaunty salute! Oh, and I also had a very special passenger - a friendly little robin perched on the windowsill of my compartment. He even posed for a picture with me! What a charmer.

Reaching Bishop Auckland felt like stepping into a bygone era. The historic streets were lined with cobblestone pathways and quaint shops, and the air was filled with the sound of children laughing.

First on my agenda was a visit to the aforementioned cathedral – its sheer grandeur took my breath away! The stained glass windows shimmered like jewels in the sunlight, and the vaulted ceilings were soaring high above. It felt like a fairy tale in real life!

Of course, a visit to Bishop Auckland wasn't complete without exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. A local recommended a magical walk through the Bishop Auckland woods. I donned my favourite hiking boots (the sparkly kind, obviously!), and ventured into a world of dappled sunlight and ancient trees. It felt like something out of a fairytale, and I even caught sight of a playful deer family leaping through the ferns!

Speaking of fairies, you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon a little 'Fairy Festival' in the town square! There were craft stalls selling fairy-themed delights, kids dressed up as elves and princesses, and even a real-life fairy house made from twigs and leaves! I absolutely HAD to take a spin in the giant swing, which sent me soaring through the air with the joy of a thousand fairies. It was utterly magical!

And as evening descended, Bishop Auckland revealed yet another side to its charm – the local pub! It was the perfect place to end a magical day. With a pint of locally-brewed ale in hand, and a delicious homemade pie in front of me, I couldn’t have asked for a more enchanting end to my trip.

If you’re looking for a day trip brimming with history, beauty, and fairy-dust magic, Bishop Auckland is the perfect destination! And of course, don't forget your tutu!

Until next time, darlings!

Yours in Pink Tutu bliss,

Emma x
