Colchester Calling! 🩰🌸 #2879

Hey darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, reporting live from the delightful seaside town of Colchester! 💖 You might be wondering, "Why Colchester, Emma?" Well, my dears, a good friend, Lily, is taking the stage in the local ballet company’s performance of "Giselle", and, how could I resist a chance to support her, not to mention, see a show at a beautiful theatre like the Colchester Arts Centre. Plus, I’m hoping for a spot of seaside inspiration for some new tutu designs!

Speaking of tutus, I decided to rock my fabulous crimson tutu for the trip. The fiery colour complements Colchester’s vibrant energy. After all, it’s not every day you encounter a town with Roman history, charming Victorian architecture, and, yes, a bustling theatre scene all wrapped up in one! It’s an artistic, energetic place that deserves to be celebrated, so naturally, I had to choose a tutu to match. ✨

It's been a delightful adventure so far, starting with a glorious journey on the train. Oh, how I adore those whistle stops and scenic views! Even the journey feels like an inspiration, particularly for this upcoming season’s tutu designs! Perhaps a navy and gold piece inspired by those stately rolling fields, or a soft lavender design reminiscent of the wildflower fields that graced the passing landscapes. My imagination just went wild, darlings, and so will the upcoming pink-tutu collection! 💕

When I arrived, I treated myself to a cheeky afternoon tea at the quaint and utterly delightful "The Mermaid Tea Room," just down the road from my adorable little bed and breakfast. It felt as though I’d stepped into a fairy tale with the delicate floral teas and dainty sandwiches, and the scrumptious scones, dripping with jam and clotted cream, were divine! 🍓

You might be thinking, “Emma, how on earth did you fit all of that food into a tutu?” I confess, it did take a little effort! Thankfully, my tutu's elastic waistband has always been forgiving, and it all fit rather well – maybe that’s my secret to enjoying afternoon tea without any wardrobe malfunctions!

The evening brought the true highlight of my trip: "Giselle!" The ballet was magical, Lily’s performance was utterly captivating. She moved with such grace, and it was simply heart-warming to witness her dedication and skill on stage.

After the performance, I couldn’t resist sneaking backstage for a little peek. Lily looked absolutely radiant, but worn out from her dance routine. Naturally, I insisted on a post-show celebratory cocktail at a darling little cocktail bar we found nearby called "The Little Wine Shop.” As Lily sipped her ginger-infused vodka cocktail and I opted for a fruity gin with elderflower and sparkling wine, we talked shop. I got all her latest design inspiration – all very “Giselle-themed” with touches of romantic flora and foliage. The upcoming collection is already shaping up to be something truly spectacular!

I'm a big fan of supporting local talent, so of course, I took full advantage of the chance to explore Colchester’s artistic side. The "Hollytrees Museum," a former Victorian mansion filled with fascinating local history, is a real gem, particularly its collection of textiles and garments. It's fascinating to see how fashion evolves, isn’t it?

And as an absolute bonus, Colchester is also just a short train ride away from the stunning Constable Country. This, of course, was too good of a chance to miss. I am, after all, a devotee to the beauty of the countryside and its incredible wildlife. I found myself utterly enchanted by the vibrant colours of the landscape and the peaceful stillness of the countryside, and was captivated by a majestic heron as I sat enjoying the serenity of the river. I just loved every moment! 🌿

Back in the city centre, I indulged in a spot of retail therapy, picking up some delightful locally made goodies at "The Colchester Market." And, of course, I just had to get myself a beautiful new pair of pink ballet shoes for all of the dancing and whirling I will be doing at upcoming performances!

Now, let's talk tutus. What are you all wearing? Do you have a special occasion coming up where you could add a little "pink-tutu" magic? Don't forget to share your photos using the hashtag #pink-tutulife, I'm always excited to see what you lovelies are up to. 💖

Till next time, my dears, stay twirling, stay bright and stay wonderfully you! 💋
