#TutuBlog: Rugby, Rugby, Rugby (Post 2928)

Hello darlings! Emma here, writing to you from the heart of England – Rugby, to be precise! I know what you’re thinking – Rugby, ballet, does that even mix?! Well, let me tell you, it does! I'm on a whirlwind tour of England this week, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I love a good railway adventure, and I think trains and tutus are a match made in heaven. Just imagine it – a gorgeous carriage with a view, all decorated in pink and adorned with my signature tutus. That's what I dream about. (Spoiler alert: It's even more wonderful in reality! I swear I hear the train whistle say, "C'mon, Emma, twirl!")

Now, back to the reason for this blog post: Rugby, darling! This place is not what you’d expect. Yes, there’s a certain sport played here, the kind that makes all the boys go 'biff and bash' (not for me, thank you very much), but beyond that, this town is bursting with charm and history. I actually love it! Imagine Tudor buildings with half-timbering, cosy little tea shops with those dainty finger sandwiches that disappear in a couple of bites, and some fantastic independent boutiques. I mean, who wouldn’t be thrilled about a lovely vintage dress shop? You should see me, my dear friends – a pink tutu and a vintage 1950s dress, looking absolutely bonkers, but completely in my element. (But don’t tell the other tourists… shhhh! They wouldn’t understand.)

Oh, and did I mention the animals? This weekend I’m going to the local park where they have this massive petting zoo! Imagine little lambs, friendly bunnies, and goats with such big, goofy eyes… I can already hear the cooing from my own lips! I love seeing how happy animals can be, even if they aren’t in a fairytale kingdom. This town is full of little surprises – it's kind of like finding a rare and beautiful wildflower nestled among the greenery, just waiting to be discovered.

Yesterday, I actually took a dance class at the Rugby Dance Academy. They've got this beautiful, traditional, wooden floor. It makes all the difference, darling! And their class, the one I went to, it was a beginner's ballet class, but there were all these grown-up ladies taking part, too! Some were super sporty, others were less so, but the passion, it just lit up the room, and it was utterly delightful! I even convinced one lady to try twirling in a pink tutu. You should’ve seen her face, my darling, she looked positively radiant! I might have gotten her onto a website for online tutu orders, too. 🤫

Remember my mission: getting everyone to try ballet. Maybe not in Rugby, but definitely across the globe! Who knows, maybe one day we'll all be wearing pink tutus, dancing down the street in a joyous ballet flashmob. Doesn't that sound glorious?

Speaking of joyful… I stumbled upon this charming tea room in Rugby. They served the most scrumptious tea and scones with lashings of jam and clotted cream – absolutely delicious! I swear the scones were almost as soft and pillowy as my tutu! And to top it off, the teacups were these dainty bone china beauties – a girl could dream! (Speaking of dreams… Did you catch the Royal Ballet show at Covent Garden last week? The Swan Lake performance, absolutely spectacular! I do think their principal dancer is just the loveliest person with those dreamy eyes, and, yes, I know, you don't always look at the dancers, but the ballet costumes are beautiful! I particularly loved that white and pink feathered tutu the prima ballerina wore, but of course I have one, just not quite that flamboyant. Perhaps one day!)

So, darling, even though it’s not traditionally known for dance, I'm telling you, Rugby has a beautiful, unique charm about it. This town is brimming with character and I just know it’s a place to enjoy yourself. Now if you'll excuse me, my lovely, I’ve got some scones and tea to indulge in and then, if I’m lucky, perhaps a lovely picnic in the park.

Stay tuned, lovelies, and always remember – life's a little brighter in a pink tutu!

Lots of love, Emma
