Taunton Calling! A Pink Tutu's Dream Destination 🩰 💖

Post Number 2952

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-obsessed ballet enthusiast, back from a whirlwind trip to Taunton, a town I've always dreamed of visiting. Now, I know what you're thinking - Taunton? A bit of a surprise, right? But hear me out... It's a hidden gem, truly, with so much charm and beauty it could rival the grandest city!

As you know, my heart belongs to the stage. The moment I stepped onto that train, feeling the rhythm of the tracks beneath me (oh, the romance of rail travel!) I knew this was going to be a magical trip.

Tutu Twirls in Taunton

First stop - the beautiful Taunton Museum. Now, I'm not one to usually shy away from a museum, but this one held a special surprise. A room dedicated to Victorian theatre and costume design, brimming with exquisitely preserved silk and feathers, gave me major Tutu-Inspiration! I envisioned myself dancing in the midst of the costumes, feeling the grandeur of the Victorian stage!

The real star of the show? A gorgeous, antique Italian Tutu, with delicate lace ruffles and a sprinkle of glitter - it practically sang a symphony of colour and romance. Of course, I did a little twirl in the museum, a gentle reminder to myself that you can never be too fabulous!

* Ballet Bliss*

A ballet fanatic's trip is never complete without some live performances, is it? The Taunton Dance Festival had me hopping with joy. Imagine, ballet, set against a backdrop of the stunning Somerset countryside, a breath-taking fusion of art and nature. They had everything - a classic "Swan Lake" interpretation, some vibrant contemporary pieces that had me gasping with excitement, and even a whimsical performance that had children (and some adults) leaping from their seats! I may have let out a spontaneous “Bravo!” at the finale, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Speaking of "Bravo!"... Have I told you about my favourite part of a performance? It's the moment the lights go down, the silence is broken by the hushed anticipation of the audience, and the orchestra kicks off the opening score... Goosebumps, every time!

Taunton Treasures

But it wasn't just ballet that made this trip unforgettable. Taunton is full of fascinating sights and vibrant streets - perfect for a tutu-wearing explorer like myself! I couldn't resist a visit to the iconic Taunton Castle, with its impressive walls and panoramic views. Just imagine, back in the day, the thrill of knights jousting in the courtyard... The spirit of those old stories, it’s a little slice of magic.

A leisurely stroll through Vivary Park was a true highlight. Picture this: sunny days, birdsong in the air, and I'm feeling completely inspired, dreaming of twirls and plies. Did I mention the amazing playground? A little giggle-induced escape back to my childhood, and proof that life is indeed a dance, whatever stage you’re on!

Pink, Pretty and Priceless

Oh, and the shops! Let's be real, who can resist a shopping spree, especially when it's a vintage, quirky gem like Taunton's independent boutiques. You’ve got to know what to look for – the little secrets tucked away in every corner. They make you feel like you've been let in on a special secret, a real treasure hunt! And, I'm sure you’re not surprised, but I managed to pick up the perfect pink hat – a little something special to commemorate my trip. Now, a new hat demands a new outfit, right? I already have a vintage tulle skirt just itching to get worn... Maybe tomorrow's blog post will feature a brand new pink outfit - I’m just full of exciting plans.

Taunton Calling... (And It's a Ballet Lover’s Paradise)

But this journey wasn’t just about sights and souvenirs. It was about reminding myself of why I fell in love with the beautiful art of ballet in the first place. It's about those breathtaking moments of grace and strength, the passion that fills the air, and the joy of sharing that magic with the world.

Taunton is a town full of secrets waiting to be discovered - it has charm, vibrancy, and just a sprinkle of magic. As I write this, back in the comfort of my Derbyshire home, I’m already daydreaming of a return trip, a chance to explore more of this enchanting little corner of Somerset, and maybe even pick up another gorgeous antique tutu… 😉 After all, every ballet-loving heart needs a touch of sparkle.

Remember to spread the tutu love! Head over to www.pink-tutu.com to read all about my adventures and share your own with the world! I’ll catch you all tomorrow, with new stories and another fabulous outfit – and, hopefully, some new tips to help you dance your way through life! 💕

See you soon, my darlings!

xx Emma
