Blyth: Tutu-ing Around in a Sea of Pink! (Blog Post #3024)

Hello darlings! Emma here, your very own pink tutu princess, reporting live from the lovely little town of Blyth, Northumberland! It’s been a whirlwind of a week, full of tutus, trains, and the most incredible wildlife, and I can't wait to spill the tea!

This whole week started with me feeling the urge to escape the bustle of London life (don't get me wrong, I love the theatre, the restaurants, the… everything!), so I packed my pink suitcase full of tutus (because every occasion calls for a tutu!), and set off on a lovely train journey north. There's nothing quite like a train journey for indulging in that delicious daydream state, with the world rolling past the window like a film reel. And as usual, my mind went into overdrive, dreaming up new tutu designs - maybe a vintage lace tutu with silk rose petals and matching tiara for next month's performance?! Oh, the possibilities!

Arriving in Blyth was like stepping into a charming seaside postcard, with quaint little shops, friendly locals, and a pier that stretches out towards the turquoise sea, where flocks of seagulls are always ready to perform their own freeform aerial show! I practically giggled all the way to my little hotel, a charming Victorian house with stained glass windows and fluffy white duvets that begged me to curl up in them!

Of course, the first thing on my to-do list was finding a ballet class. You see, my darlings, I’m a firm believer that ballet is good for the soul. The discipline, the grace, the expression… it's a truly magical art form that I’d love to see more people embrace! So, imagine my joy when I stumbled upon a small dance studio called 'The Twirling Tide,' hidden away on a little cobblestone street, almost as if it was meant to be. The owner, a kind, red-haired lady named Peggy, greeted me with a warm smile and a twinkle in her eye - clearly a kindred spirit! We chatted about tutus (of course!), the power of ballet to bring people together, and, of course, the challenges of finding the perfect pointe shoes. Peggy even showed me some stunning original drawings of the sea she was working on for the local art festival – such incredible talent!

Speaking of talent, my time at The Twirling Tide was truly inspiring. The class was small and intimate, a lovely mix of ages, from children who looked like little sugarplum fairies to graceful silver-haired ladies who moved with such grace and strength. And then there was me, swirling through the studio in my trusty white tutu, feeling every bit the pink tutu princess I always imagined. You know, when you're lost in a ballet class, surrounded by other tutu-wearing beauties, you forget the outside world and just focus on your movements, your breathing, your soul... I simply loved every moment!

After my invigorating dance class, Blyth welcomed me with open arms and plenty of fun activities. I visited the bustling little fishing harbour, where fishermen told me stories of battling giant waves and catching the freshest fish. You know, there's something incredibly romantic about the way the fishing boats sway gently with the tide, and the aroma of salty air and freshly caught seafood - I could spend hours just watching the sun paint the sky in a beautiful pink and orange! Oh, did I mention the seagulls?! A colony of the most hilarious creatures who loved to squawk and chase each other with a comical intensity. It’s like a free entertainment show right there on the pier!

In the afternoon, I set off on an exciting horse riding adventure, trotting along the breezy, windswept coastline. The air was clean, the views stunning, and my horse, a gentle chestnut mare called Belle, was a perfect companion for this delightful journey. I'd be lying if I said I didn't let out a few joyful squeals, a few of those “whoa-whoa!” shouts for a good old fashioned, “ galloping around like a madwoman!” moment. It's funny, these types of moments, they make you feel so alive, so truly connected to the nature around you. It was the perfect mix of elegance and wildness - just like a ballet performance!

Of course, no visit to Blyth would be complete without a proper tea break! The tea shop nestled at the edge of the town was filled with aromatic teas and tempting treats. I settled on a cup of chamomile tea, topped with a delicate rosebud and the most delicious honey-glazed lemon cake. It's amazing how simple things can be so delightful.

Later that evening, I strolled through the town centre, my head high, and my white tutu catching the evening light (you know, just a little touch of glamour!). The streets were bustling with activity - musicians playing traditional tunes, children running with ice cream cones, and a group of teenagers practicing some moves, almost like a spontaneous flash mob! Blyth, it seemed, had an infectious energy about it. Everyone, from the young to the old, was out and about, having fun, creating moments of joy. And it warmed my heart!

I ended the day reflecting on the beauty of this small seaside town. The kindness of the locals, the vibrant energy of the place, the majestic nature, the magic of ballet… it was truly a wonderful day, and it reminded me once again that beauty, happiness, and a good twirl can be found anywhere! Blyth, you've truly charmed your way into my heart.

So darlings, until next time, remember:

  • The world is full of beautiful, magical moments just waiting to be discovered!
  • Every day is a new opportunity to embrace your inner pink tutu princess!
  • Don't be afraid to try something new, like dancing with grace or exploring a charming little town by train or even by horseback!

Keep on twirling, my darlings, and don't forget to share your own pink tutu adventures in the comments!

With love and a dash of glitter,

Emma xx
