It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Spalding, Lincolnshire, a place that definitely deserves a spot on your own travel list, especially if you're a fellow tutu enthusiast! This trip was extra special because I got to wear my brand new European-style tutu. 🩰✨
Let me tell you, arriving in Spalding was like stepping into a time capsule. The cobbled streets, the charming market square, the traditional red brick buildings... it was straight out of a Jane Austen novel! But the real magic began at the Spalding Ballet Academy, which welcomed me with open arms. It was so much fun meeting the passionate dancers there, their faces beaming with love for ballet. 💖
As for my new tutu, it's a work of art, you see! A confection of softest pink tulle with layers upon layers of shimmering, ethereal fabric. It's the kind of tutu that makes you twirl a little extra, feel a little more powerful, and embrace the sheer joy of being a ballerina. ✨
Dancing with the Locals
I always say, there's nothing better than experiencing a new city through the lens of ballet. This trip was no different! We started with a morning ballet class, feeling the beautiful stretch in our muscles and hearing the sweet sounds of the grand piano as we worked through graceful, flowing steps. It was pure bliss. 🩰🎹
But the real highlight of the day was a performance at the historic Spalding Town Hall. The theatre had this enchanting old-world charm with velvet seating and intricate gold details. And the audience was absolutely lovely! Such a diverse group of people from young dancers to their proud parents and even some lovely ladies in the local WI – and me, of course, twirling my heart out in my glorious pink tutu! 🤩
You know me, I can't resist getting everyone involved in my Tutu Revolution! It's amazing how a single pink tutu can bring people together, ignite their inner ballerina, and bring joy to a room. Just like my favourite quote says: "A Tutu can Change the World!"
Horseback Ride into the Lincolnshire Wolds
No visit to Spalding would be complete without a horseback ride! We galloped through the Lincolnshire Wolds, and let me tell you, there's nothing more exhilarating than feeling the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, and the steady rhythm of a horse's stride beneath you! 🏇💨
As we trotted through the breathtaking countryside, I spotted some truly gorgeous wildlife, from elegant greyhounds soaring through the air to sleek fallow deer grazing peacefully in the fields. 🦅🦌 Nature really is a true masterpiece!
Tea Time Indulgence
Of course, a proper afternoon wouldn't be complete without a delightful spot of tea. I must say, the tearoom in the centre of Spalding is a little gem – exquisite sandwiches, delicious cakes, and endless cups of Earl Grey with lashings of cream! ☕️🍰
Spalding's Hidden Gems
As much as I love ballet, I also adore exploring new places and discovering their hidden gems. So, of course, I had to venture off the beaten track! We found our way to the Spalding Flower Gardens, an oasis of beauty where fragrant roses bloomed in an array of colours and intricate flower displays shimmered in the sunshine. 🌹🌻
We even managed to squeeze in a visit to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, where playful penguins waddled around and mischievous monkeys swung from branch to branch. 🐧🐒 Honestly, you never know what amazing things you'll discover on a Tutu adventure!
Back to Derbyshire and My Ballet Dream
And now, I'm back in my beloved Derbyshire, filled with inspiration from my Spalding adventure. My travels remind me of how truly wonderful our world is. Each city, town, village has its own charm, its own stories to tell, and its own passionate souls who deserve to experience the joy of dancing. ✨
