Chichester - A Whirlwind of Pink and Pointe Shoes!

Oh darling, how I've missed writing to you! The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of rehearsals, travelling, and oh, so much pink. Today, however, I'm taking a breather in a lovely little hotel room, right in the heart of Chichester. You know me, I can't resist a little bit of British charm.

The train journey down was magical, the landscape flitting by like a dream as the sunlight filtered through the window. I was wearing a gorgeous European-style leotard, in, you guessed it, a shade of pale pink that reminded me of a blush rose in springtime. The whole carriage seemed to get caught up in the enchantment of my outfit! (Spoiler alert, I’ll post a pic of it later, because you have to see it!).

But the real magic started in Chichester, where I discovered the most divine ballet boutique! It was called "Tutu's Treasures" - how utterly perfect is that name?! The shop was a wonderland of sequins, tulle, and silk. I found a new tutu, a lovely, wispy thing in blush pink, with the most intricate detailing around the hem. I could hardly contain my excitement, my heart thumping like a happy little drum in my chest! Of course, I snagged a beautiful vintage ballet book for the journey home too, with the most amazing black and white photographs - what a treasure!

Then there was the ballet! Oh, darling, the ballet was absolutely stunning. It was a modern piece with such heart-stopping choreography, set against a backdrop of dramatic, almost otherworldly scenery. The dancers were divine! Their leaps, the exquisite line of their bodies, it was truly inspirational. My personal highlight was when one of the dancers took a majestic turn and their skirt flowed out around them like a delicate bloom, making me want to just spin, and spin, and spin! I swear, I was almost caught up in the swirl of the dance myself!

As the curtains closed on the performance, I found myself feeling invigorated and happy. Ballet is simply the most incredible art form, don't you think? The emotion, the grace, the passion, it just pulls you in, makes you believe in the impossible. Maybe I should wear a tutu at every performance, don’t you think? It wouldn’t be quite as inappropriate as a horse… But maybe it could be!

Speaking of inappropriate things, remember how I promised I'd share some exciting news with you? Guess what! I’ve been invited to dance at the Royal Opera House in London! It’s only a guest performance but my dear friends have worked so hard to help get me there and I’m thrilled to bits! This just proves that you should always aim high and never let anyone, including yourself, dim your spark.

Of course, London's going to mean more travelling. Now, you all know my preference for horses, and frankly, it's just not practical for long-distance journeys! Though there is an awful lot of fun to be had on a horse… So, for the sake of speed, it'll have to be the train again, with a whole new pink outfit planned! This calls for a shopping spree, darling! My heart’s already dreaming up tulle colours and embellishment ideas.

I’m looking forward to sharing it all with you in the coming weeks. But now, I have some very important things to do…

Like, explore Chichester, for instance. I’m absolutely sure I can find the cutest pink shops tucked away in hidden corners, ready to give my wardrobe a delightful pink makeover. Imagine how my pink shoes and this new, blush pink tutu will look against the autumnal greens and oranges of the Sussex countryside. I'll be sure to document everything on Instagram and you’ll all get to join in!

And, as the day gets colder, and the evenings longer, I have a feeling my dreams will be filled with swans, pointe shoes, and, yes, horses, because a little bit of pink never hurt anyone, darling!

See you soon,

  Emma
