East Ham: A Feathered Flutter in a Pink Wonderland 🩰✨

Hello my darling dancers! 🎀 Welcome to Pink Tutu blog post number 3177, a whirl through the exciting streets of East Ham and a ballet-filled day!

Right, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty – today was all about my dream feather tutu! You guys know I'm obsessed with everything fluffy and fabulous, and this one just took the cake. Imagine layers upon layers of delicate, soft pink feathers, cascading down my legs like a cloud of dreams! I'd be lying if I said I wasn’t practically waltzing down the street! 🩰

East Ham itself was an unexpected little gem. You’d think a place named after a ham would be a bit… well, boring, right? But actually, the vibe was just charming. I was practically gliding through bustling markets and cobblestone streets, dodging curious pigeons and beaming at locals with my usual, well… "I’m-wearing-a-feather-tutu-so-the-world-must-be-wonderful" grin. 😁

First on the agenda was a morning visit to the grand, majestic Royal Opera House. (Ooh la la, darling, we're talking high culture now! Fancy!). The theatre is always such an exciting place for me. The grandeur, the hushed anticipation in the air before the curtain rises… And don't get me started on the glorious costumes! I have a serious costume crush - I've been eyeing a rather flamboyant red feathered one myself for a little while… hmm, shall I be daring enough to add that to my collection?

Today's performance was a cracker (or a "corker" as we say in my Derbyshire home!). Swan Lake, in all its delicate beauty. The dancers, absolutely graceful! It made my toes itch to put on my pointe shoes (though I admit, I probably couldn't have managed to do it on my journey from Derbyshire). As always, I managed to catch the eye of the beautiful ballerinas, and when one of them winked in my direction after an absolutely stunning fouetté… well, you could say my heart went "tututu!" 💓

But it wasn't all about professional dancers. After the performance, I found myself at an exciting, unexpected ballet class, held right in the heart of East Ham. The studio was charming, with exposed brick walls and large windows, allowing for an abundance of natural light to spill in - just what my pink-loving self needed. The teacher was absolutely lovely, reminding me of one of those ballet grandmas with stories to tell (and who always has the best advice for the next generation). And even though I wasn't dancing, it was amazing to observe the other students. Everyone was so passionate, their bodies moving like poetry! One student, dressed in a lovely blue tutu, actually landed a triple pirouette. I gasped, clutching my little notebook for dear life! (I do take a lot of notes – always inspired! I'm dreaming up my own choreography. Don't tell anyone though, it's top secret).

My East Ham adventures wouldn’t have been complete without experiencing some of the local delicacies. My lunch was an absolute feast for my eyes and my stomach: the most gorgeous pink strawberry smoothie I have ever seen, and the biggest slice of cake, complete with sprinkles and pink icing! You know my rule: If it’s pink, I’m happy! 💕

The day wasn't all about ballet though! I managed to find time for a little wildlife watching at East Ham’s charming park, enjoying a stroll among the blossom trees. The local ducks and geese seemed fascinated by my feather tutu (they even had a little dance for me!) It reminded me so much of my own days in Derbyshire, where the wild side of the countryside always greeted me with a warmth that’s impossible to describe. The feeling of nature around me is something I always carry with me.

So, to wrap up, this was a beautiful, whimsical journey, all fuelled by the most stunning feather tutu! Remember my dearest dancers, there’s no feeling quite like twirling around in a pink tutu, and no place like East Ham to do it!

Till next time, stay pink and fabulous!

Lots of love, Emma 💕
