Royal Tunbridge Wells - A Tutu-ful Day Out! (Post #3217)

Hello my darlings! Emma here, reporting live from the gorgeous Royal Tunbridge Wells, where I've spent a glorious day surrounded by sunshine, quaint streets, and, of course, the most fabulous ballet performance you can imagine!

Oh, I do love these little trips away. They're so much more romantic and exciting than boring old aeroplanes. This time I took the train, and even though it was a tad on the crowded side (someone seemed to think my fabulous pink tutu took up too much space - silly, I know! Don't they know the world is meant to be a little bit pinker?), I spotted the most enchanting deer on the way to the station. It was a total surprise, watching it saunter through the woods. It was like it knew I was coming, like I was meant to share that little magical moment. Such perfect timing for a day of 'Swan Lake'!

Speaking of perfect timing, today's outfit is just screaming "Ballet day!". The delightful Mr. John Lewis has a new line of pale pink t-shirt dresses, the perfect companion for my blush pink pancake tutu - don't worry, darling, this one has a built-in safety net just in case! You don't want to be caught out in the middle of a twirl without one, you never know where those cheeky little gusts of wind will come from. On my feet are, of course, some brand-new pale pink pointe shoes, they were such a bargain in the summer sale that I had to snag myself another pair! (Sometimes I find that a few more pairs of pointe shoes is a better investment than that new cashmere jumper... you wouldn't say I'm frivolous, would you? It's all about the long game - in this case, a game of pink and a dance on the tip of my toes!). To complete the look, a pretty straw hat adorned with a little fluffy white pompom - a delightful find from a tiny little independent shop in Tunbridge Wells, so delightful that I had to treat myself to a pot of tea and a strawberry scone while I browsed their lovely little boutique! It felt so decadent, you know, that kind of girly-tea-time dream with beautiful china cups and lace napkins.

Oh, and you just wouldn't believe what I saw on the way to the theatre! This delightful couple were getting married in the square. Such beautiful wedding gowns, and all of the bridesmaids in pink... so wonderfully matching. I nearly screamed "I'm a twin!" (that is how much I love pink!).

My favourite part about this lovely little town is how charmingly old it is, the cobblestone streets and quirky independent shops just take me back to a different era, it really brings a bit of a Parisian vibe - which, as you know, I'm totally enamoured by! And I love how this lovely little town comes to life in the evenings, everyone sipping cocktails and dancing the night away.

Now, let's get to the real reason for this whole trip: "Swan Lake!" It was simply magical. I don't want to spoil it for you, but if you have the chance, my darlings, you must see this ballet. There was so much beauty and grace on stage. It really gave me inspiration, and you know me, I can't wait to recreate some of those poses, and some of those moves! Oh, I could go on forever about the gorgeous costumes, the sweeping music, and the way the dancers simply moved with such beautiful, effortless elegance - that feeling of being absolutely transported to another world - It really was just utterly beautiful.

The only downside, perhaps, was that I had to sit through the interval, and gasp, without a scone in hand! I mean, they have so many great scone choices, especially the almond one! Maybe I'll write a polite letter to the theatre about that, just to point out what is sorely lacking. Maybe I could even suggest a special "Pink Tutu Tea-Party Interval Package" - oh, what a marvellous idea! Think of it: an hour-long tea-time dream with finger sandwiches, tiny little scones (of course!), and the option to dress up in your own little tutu! (I wouldn't mind providing my very own pink tutus for such an occasion - think what it would do for their business!)

Anyway, back to the evening. This show was simply breath-taking, I was transported, lost in the story, entranced by the artistry, utterly mesmerized by the passion. I simply had to dance afterward, even if just in the dimly lit street. I know how silly it may have seemed to others, a girl twirling on the pavement, in the middle of the night, dressed in a tutu! But darling, sometimes you have to break those silly rules and simply embrace that wild side of your heart, to really embrace those little, wild moments of life - those beautiful and breathtaking moments when life just takes your breath away and fills you with such joy. (Plus, everyone deserves to experience a moment of tutu bliss at least once a day! ).

And on that note, I'll leave you to ponder. But I wouldn't worry if that feeling of being transported to a land of fantasy, a land of wonder, a land where everything seems possible... doesn't let you sleep tonight.

As always, keep smiling and, above all, keep dancing.

See you tomorrow, darlings!

Yours always,

Emma
