Wishaw Whirlwind: Pink Tutu Adventures Continue!

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma, your resident Pink Tutu Queen, checking in from the enchanting town of Wishaw! Yes, you read that right, this little Derbyshire girl is off on another ballet adventure, and this time, I’ve gone full-blown American!

Now, I've told you before about my obsession with all things pink, and how tutus just make my heart skip a beat. But there's a certain charm about the American style tutu - a bit more twirly, a bit more fluffy, a bit more… well, fabulous! So, when I found this beauty online, in a shade of pink that could only be described as "bubblegum dream," I knew I had to take it for a spin.

The Journey to Wishaw

Getting to Wishaw was an absolute dream. You know how much I love train journeys - the rhythmic chugging of the engine, the panoramic views of the countryside, and of course, the chance to dress up in my favourite pink outfit (can you guess what that is?). This time, I chose my floral print dress and a cute little pink cardigan.

Now, a little secret: I totally went for a carriage upgrade, and I must say, the extra legroom was worth every penny. I could stretch out my legs, pop in my favourite musical soundtrack (currently obsessed with The Greatest Showman - you just can't beat a bit of P.T. Barnum!), and let my imagination run wild about all the incredible ballet shows I might encounter.

Whishaw Wildlife Wonderland

Before diving into the dance world of Wishaw, I decided to soak up the local nature scene. You see, this Derbyshire girl has a soft spot for anything furry, feathered, or scaly! So, I took a leisurely walk through the charming Wishaw Park, where I spotted a cheeky squirrel scampering up a tree, a group of friendly ducks paddling around the lake, and even a magnificent heron perched on a branch overlooking the water. They all seemed quite taken with my bright pink tutu, I must say!

A Tutu-ful Performance

The reason I'd come all the way to Wishaw, of course, was to see the incredible "Alice in Wonderland" ballet at the town's very own theatre! This wasn't just any old ballet, mind you, it was a complete theatrical masterpiece, combining traditional ballet with dazzling costume design, stunning special effects, and an absolutely heartwarming story.

You might be wondering: what does my American style tutu have to do with Alice in Wonderland? Well, let's just say that after a quick backstage visit (yes, I managed to get a peek behind the curtain!), I realised that even professional ballerinas have a little bit of "tutu magic" in their hearts. I got to meet a few of the dancers after the show, and let me tell you, they were absolutely thrilled with my choice of outfit! Turns out, everyone loves a bit of pink fluff, especially when it comes with a whole lotta twirls and a splash of bubbly personality.

Ballet Lessons with a Twist

My trip to Wishaw wouldn't be complete without a little ballet lesson, wouldn't it? Now, I wouldn't say I'm a professional dancer (though I do practice daily!), but I do like to take classes every now and then. It helps keep my balance, keeps me grounded (quite literally!), and just gives me the chance to really get my pirouette on.

But this time, things got a bit different. I discovered this fantastic little studio run by a lovely lady called Miss Daisy. You see, Miss Daisy's classes are all about… wait for it… Ballet Street. Yup, imagine a mix of classical ballet with street dance moves, hip hop beats, and a whole lotta sassy energy. Let me tell you, it was a riot!

I wore my American tutu, of course, adding a touch of feminine flair to the whole street dance experience. You see, I believe in wearing what makes you happy, and nothing makes me happier than spinning around in a fluffy pink tutu, whether I’m on a ballet stage or in a dance studio.

Wishaw Inspiration

This trip to Wishaw was full of surprises, laughter, and, of course, a healthy dose of pink! It’s moments like these that remind me why I love to explore, to embrace the unexpected, and to spread my message of pink-tutu-tastic fun wherever I go.

And remember my darlings: even if you've never danced a day in your life, I encourage you to give it a go. Find a local studio, take a class, maybe even try out that old ballerina costume lurking in the back of your wardrobe!

After all, who knows, maybe a pink tutu adventure awaits you too!

Keep it twirling,

Emma xx
