Droitwich Delight: A Tutu Tale

#3351

Oh my darlings, what a weekend! As I sit here typing this, the remnants of my fabulous trip to Droitwich are still buzzing around my head – a beautiful blur of sunshine, laughter, and of course, tutus!

It all started with a grand idea: a spontaneous ballet adventure. My inner ballerina (she’s never truly dormant, let me tell you!) was desperate for a weekend away. You know me – a city girl at heart, but there's something undeniably romantic about travelling by train. So I hopped on board, my luggage bursting with vibrant pink tutus and my heart filled with the promise of a beautiful escape.

Now, Droitwich. Such a charming little place, tucked away in the heart of Worcestershire. It had that classic English countryside feel – the scent of honeysuckle wafting in the air, thatched roof cottages, and a delightful old town centre full of quaint shops and cafes. But the best part, without a doubt, was the beautiful parkland setting – rolling green hills and a sparkling lake, perfect for a peaceful picnic before a tutu-tastic afternoon.

Speaking of tutus… I chose the most dazzlingly pink, American-style creation for this journey – it’s a whirlwind of frills and feathers, absolutely perfect for a little ballerina-on-the-go. It really turned heads in the village! I could practically hear the "ooh la la's" following me wherever I went. Let’s be honest, a little bit of sparkle is always a good idea, isn't it? It lifts everyone's spirits, makes the world just a bit brighter.

The reason I’d picked Droitwich was for the annual “Dancing on the River” event – a celebration of dance featuring ballet, jazz, contemporary, and even tap. Now, my love for dance knows no bounds, but this was truly special. There was an electrifying energy in the air as dancers of all ages took to the stage by the riverbank. My favourite was a spirited piece set to “Singin’ in the Rain”, where the dancers really captured the playful joy of that iconic tune.

And then there was the grand finale – a performance by the West Midlands Ballet Company. You could feel the anticipation in the air – I felt a tiny thrill run through my body as the music swelled and the first dancer took to the stage. It was a truly mesmerising ballet, full of flowing movements, intricate footwork, and stunning artistry. They seemed to dance with the very essence of the landscape, capturing its beauty and spirit. The sun set as the final bow resonated through the air, and the audience, myself included, were swept up in a wave of applause.

Afterwards, I felt this lovely, tingly feeling – a sense of contentment and wonder. It's amazing what a little ballet can do for the soul!

Later, I had the most adorable encounter with a family of swans on the lake. Their grace and elegance were a reminder of the power of nature's beauty – another reminder to move with elegance, to hold our heads high, and embrace life with a touch of grace.

And you know what else? This whole weekend reminded me that the real magic isn’t just in the big cities and bustling theatres. Sometimes the greatest stories unfold in the most unexpected places, like a little town with a big heart like Droitwich. It was a perfect reminder to seek out adventure, to explore new corners of our wonderful world, and of course, to never underestimate the power of a beautiful, pink tutu.

My dears, I hope you're all ready to embrace your own inner ballerina! Life is about taking those bold leaps of faith, embracing the joy of dance, and filling the world with a little sparkle and grace.

So, don't forget to put on your fanciest pink tutu, step outside your comfort zone, and twirl your way through the world! Remember, you’re never too old, too shy, or too “anything” to twirl. It's time to celebrate our shared love for ballet and fill the world with a bit more pink!

Love,

Emma
