Belfast, Baby! (Post #3366)

Hiya lovelies! It’s Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed adventurer, writing to you from the beautiful city of Belfast! Can you believe it's been almost a week since I left Derbyshire and boarded the train up North? It’s amazing how quickly time flies when you’re immersed in exploring a new place!

As soon as I arrived, the city felt warm and welcoming, like a cuppa on a chilly morning. The atmosphere here is buzzing with creative energy – it's just a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of the city center to a gorgeous coastline that leaves me speechless (the stunning views practically make me want to pirouette on the cliffs, but alas, maybe not the safest idea, haha!).

Now, you know I’m a bit of a girly-girl. I love me some fashion, especially anything that sparkles, and let's face it, there’s nothing quite as fabulous as a well-fitting, pretty, pink tutu. I know, I know – some people might find it a bit too much, but when you find the right pink for your complexion, you can’t deny the power of a beautiful shade of blush. It makes you feel like a princess, you know? I just want everyone to try it, even if it’s just for one day!

And of course, when I’m in a new city, ballet is the first thing on my list. Belfast’s dance scene is alive with so much talent, it’s mind-blowing. On my first day, I saw a truly incredible ballet performance of Swan Lake by the Irish National Ballet. The dancers were absolutely sublime! I was absolutely entranced – there was an amazing balance between strength and fluidity, grace and emotion – they brought the story to life so beautifully.

The following day, I tried something a bit different. I took a ballet class right on the waterfront. Now, this was a truly unique experience! Dancing on the soft sand with the sea breeze in my hair and the distant sound of the city hum – It's something I won’t forget. I don’t think anyone gave a second glance to a pink tutu on the beach, and there’s something liberating about that, right?

Oh, but the adventures didn’t end there! Did you know that there's this really cool, slightly off-beat festival called 'EastSide Arts Festival' in the city? They have all sorts of art installations, street performances, and music events - it's basically like a gigantic outdoor art gallery with music! It's the kind of place where everyone feels welcome, regardless of what you wear. Which means, naturally, I waltzed around in my pink tutu! You wouldn't believe the number of people who stopped to compliment me. One gentleman even offered to buy me an ice cream because, in his words, “you are absolutely radiating joy with that lovely pink outfit!” Who wouldn't want to hear that?!

Speaking of radiating joy, I have to tell you about the best bit of my trip! Did you know Belfast is home to a fantastic donkey sanctuary? I visited and spent an entire afternoon surrounded by the most adorable fluffy, braying creatures! It's truly a slice of peace and tranquility right in the heart of the city. And they were all so playful! It's a perfect reminder that sometimes you need to slow down, enjoy the little things, and appreciate the company of good souls (no matter how many legs they have, haha!).

You know what I realised on this journey, lovelies? Belfast, with its stunning coastlines, vibrant arts scene, and warm, welcoming spirit, really is a place where anything is possible. It reminds me of my own life – embrace all the possibilities and experiences. Don't let anyone tell you that you can’t be a ballerina, or that wearing a tutu is too much. Dance to your own beat, love your passion, and go chase those dreams!

See you soon! Emma x
