Plymouth Calling: Pink Tutus and Seagull Ballet

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and today I'm coming to you live from the glorious seaside town of Plymouth! This little gem of a city nestled in the southwest of England is definitely giving me some serious coastal vibes, and let me tell you, I'm absolutely loving it.

Now, as you all know, my love affair with tutus is as strong as ever, so you won't be surprised to hear that I packed a dazzling green tutu for this trip. It's got a beautiful sheen to it, like a shimmering emerald sea under the sun. You'll just have to wait till tomorrow's post to see a pic, but let me tell you, it's a knockout! It was a perfect choice for today's adventure: a visit to Plymouth Hoe, that stunning coastal stretch where Drake took his famous walk. It felt like something out of a movie, the salty air whipping my hair, and me feeling like I was dancing along the edge of the world!

Okay, so I didn't actually dance on the Hoe – I couldn't possibly, what with all the curious onlookers! But I did feel a certain, shall we say, 'movement' in my spirit. The whole scene, with its majestic Plymouth Sound, was like watching a dramatic sea-faring ballet unfold in front of my very eyes. You could practically hear the waves and the wind playing a dramatic, rhythmic soundtrack.

Oh, and speaking of drama! The star of the show at Plymouth Hoe was most definitely a colony of gulls. These feathered friends were in their element, swirling and diving through the air with incredible grace. I wouldn't call their style strictly "classical ballet" – it was more like a wonderfully chaotic improv session. It had me giggling like a school girl, watching them flap and shriek in this whirlwind of organised chaos.

My inner dancer couldn't resist joining in with my own little improvisational number, swirling my emerald tutu like a majestic mermaid catching the breeze. Honestly, I swear the seagulls watched me with admiration - well, maybe that's a stretch! - but there was definitely something rather magical about that moment. It’s this sense of spontaneity and joyful movement that I adore about this wonderful world of dance.

Speaking of magical moments, before coming to Plymouth I did the most delightful thing: I caught a train journey up from Derbyshire. A proper, old-fashioned train journey, you know? The kind that you see in vintage movies, full of chattering passengers, friendly staff, and views that fly past in a blur of changing landscapes. Honestly, it’s something I thoroughly recommend to everyone, even if you’re not as smitten with old-fashioned transport as me! The gentle rhythm of the journey, the click-clack of the wheels on the tracks, it’s like an entire orchestra in motion!

And the best part about a train journey? No need to worry about parking! (Well, you still need to find somewhere to park your horse, of course, if you happen to have arrived at the station that way... winks.)

It's a truth universally acknowledged that a true dancer loves all forms of movement. Just look at my wardrobe – tutus in every colour imaginable, comfortable dance shoes for walking and prancing, and oh-so-chic evening wear for when I'm feeling a bit fancier. But you know what? Even something as simple as hopping on a train journey can be like a whole performance piece to me!

Tomorrow's adventures? I'll be getting my dancing shoes out for a class at one of Plymouth’s local studios! I hear they have an amazing programme here, offering everything from ballet basics to advanced technique classes – the kind that makes your muscles ache and your spirit soar in equal measure. Then I'll be sharing all my dancing experiences here, on www.pink-tutu.com. Don’t forget to pop back for the inside scoop on everything from tutus to tutus – that’s how we roll in this pink paradise!

Until then, keep spreading the joy of dancing and maybe, just maybe, think about donning a pink tutu, eh? It'll change your life!

With much love, Emma xxx
