Aberdeen Adventures: A Tutu-ful Journey in Pink! 🩰💕

Hello my lovely Tutu-licious followers! It’s your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, checking in from the vibrant city of Aberdeen. This is my third time in Scotland’s Granite City, and each visit feels like a little adventure in its own right. Today I'm embracing a particularly vibrant and daring look – my new fuchsia-pink tutu! 😉 I feel like a fairytale princess (but with way more kick-ass attitude, of course!).

This time I've arrived in Aberdeen via train – a journey through rolling green hills and quaint Scottish villages that always feels wonderfully magical. My journey reminded me of my childhood, growing up in Derbyshire, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Peak District. Back then, I’d imagine myself in the lead role of Swan Lake, pirouetting across those rolling green hills in a majestic white tutu! It seems so long ago now – those days of chasing butterflies in the meadows and yearning for the stage.

Speaking of stage, the real reason for my trip is the Edinburgh International Festival, an annual pilgrimage I wouldn’t miss for the world. I’m excited about seeing the Scottish Ballet perform their interpretation of "Giselle", a ballet that has always captured my imagination. I have so much admiration for the raw passion and artistry of the Scottish dancers - their dedication to the art form truly inspires me. It’s not just the classic ballet pieces that I’m excited about though. I’ve also been hearing whispers of some incredible street performances happening all over Edinburgh, combining dance with music, theatre, and even acrobatics. You know me, I love pushing boundaries, and I can't wait to see what creative gems I unearth in the vibrant, open-air theatres of Edinburgh!

But before the festival kicks off, I have some time to explore the wonderful city of Aberdeen. I love wandering around the cobblestone streets, admiring the traditional architecture and getting lost in the local art scene. The fresh sea air always makes me feel invigorated and alive, and the people I've met here have been so warm and welcoming. I just know that Aberdeen is going to inspire me with its history, culture and spirit!

Now, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t share a few tips on my favourite pink-tastic experiences:

  • Pink Drinks with a View: No trip to Aberdeen is complete without visiting the harbour, and I highly recommend stopping for a pink gin cocktail with a view of the sea. The colours of the sky reflected in the water, a sweet and tangy drink in hand - there’s just something incredibly magical about it.
  • Ballet Boutique Shopping: Aberdeen's independent shops are truly special. I discovered a gorgeous boutique stocking the most stunning tutus and dancewear. My inner ballerina couldn’t resist picking up a brand new pink ribbon to add to my collection. (Shhh, don't tell my fiancé! 😂)
  • Wildlife Wonders: Scotland is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, and Aberdeen is no exception! A boat trip to spot dolphins and whales is a must-do for anyone who loves these majestic creatures. I saw a whole pod of dolphins frolicking in the waves, it was just incredible! And who knows, maybe I’ll spot a majestic seabird sporting its own pink feather. Nature always seems to inspire my dance moves, don’t you think?

I'll be sure to keep you updated with all my adventures throughout the week, my dear Tutu-licious friends. If you’re ever in Aberdeen, be sure to seek out the local ballet classes and get your own pink tutu on! 🩰 💖 You never know, maybe I’ll see you at the Edinburgh Festival – we can enjoy the magic of dance together. Until then, let's embrace life with a pink-hued, tutu-licious attitude!

With love, Emma 💖
