Carlisle Calling! 🩰✨

Post Number 3437 - 30th November 2005

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-obsessed ballerina Emma, and I’m writing to you today from the charming city of Carlisle, nestled in the heart of Cumbria!

You know how much I adore travelling, and this time, instead of the usual horse-drawn carriage (though I wouldn't say no to a ride through the beautiful Cumbrian countryside!), I decided to take a glorious train journey. Something about the rhythmic clatter of the wheels and the view whizzing by the window always makes me feel like I’m dancing across the country!

Carlisle welcomed me with open arms - well, actually, with a gentle drizzle, but I’m not letting a bit of rain dampen my spirits! This town has such a rich history, you can practically feel it in the air! From the ancient castle, where you can almost hear the echoes of battles past, to the bustling marketplace, buzzing with friendly chatter, it's a place that truly captivates the senses.

My mission in Carlisle, of course, is to find the most fabulous tutu-worthy venue! I’m absolutely in love with the Carlisle Civic Centre. Can you believe this architectural beauty was designed by none other than Sir Giles Gilbert Scott? The man who designed the iconic red telephone boxes and Battersea Power Station - that's true genius!

Today, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Carlisle Museum and Art Gallery. They have an impressive collection of historical artifacts, including the Roman Wall exhibition, which completely transported me back in time. After that, I dined on some delightful homemade soup and a slice of Victoria sponge at The Old Bank Bakery - truly the perfect pitstop!

But let's get back to what really matters: tutus! You know, dear readers, a ballet dancer is always on the lookout for inspiration! Carlisle hasn't disappointed. It's full of the most wonderful places that make me just want to twirl, twirl, twirl! From the stunning greenery of the Bitts Park, to the beautiful gardens of Tullie House, every corner seems to inspire a different kind of dance!

Tomorrow I plan to have a look at The Sands Centre and find out if there’s any chance they might let me borrow their stage for a private tutu-tastic performance! It would be wonderful to showcase the magic of ballet for everyone! I also might just stop by The Crown and Mitre Hotel and The Garden Gate for a delicious cup of tea and a spot of people-watching - always good for a few inspiring character studies.

And, of course, no visit to Carlisle would be complete without exploring the breathtaking Lake District. The scenery is just awe-inspiring, perfect for getting in touch with nature's beauty. It inspires a graceful, flowing kind of dance, wouldn't you say? Perhaps a waltz inspired by the rolling hills, or a lively jig set against the backdrop of sparkling water? I might even grab my trusty sketchpad and capture some of this magical inspiration!

So, until tomorrow, dear readers! Stay tuned for more adventures, more tutus, and even more pink!

And remember, don't just dream about wearing a pink tutu – make it a reality! 🩰💕
