Taunton Tales: Pink Tutu Travels - Post #3468

Hello my lovely Tutu Twirlers!

Can you believe it’s the last day of 2005? How the time flies when you're twirling!

It’s been a whirlwind of a year, but the adventure never ends. Today, I'm posting to you from the delightful town of Taunton, Somerset. Now, if you've been following my travels on www.pink-tutu.com you know I'm a bit of a train enthusiast. This trip was no different. I just love the rhythmic clinking of the tracks and the picturesque views that whizz past the window. And of course, I had my trusty pink tutu in tow, its tulle cascading gracefully in the carriage's gentle sway. (Picture it - it's quite the scene!)

My mission this time? A gorgeous performance by the West Country Ballet Company, celebrating the joy and artistry of this wonderful dance form. I mean, c'mon, you simply can’t resist the elegance of a ballet in a beautiful historical theatre, right? It’s almost as delightful as a cuppa in the theatre’s charming little tearoom after!

Now, as a seasoned ballet aficionado, I always scout the scene for fabulous ballet fashion. This trip was no exception, and let me tell you, this company is not just about breathtaking leaps and ethereal pirouettes. No, no, my dear Tutu Twirlers, they truly understood the power of the perfect tutu.

My heart skipped a beat the moment I saw this particular tutu. Oh, the colour! The glorious Italian pink shimmered under the stage lights, the shade that's just sooooo perfect with a warm tan like mine! I could just imagine myself wearing it as I danced across the stage (dreams are allowed, aren't they?) Let’s just say it was definitely the best tutu of the performance, and may even have inspired this very post (ahem!).

After the show, I popped into a charming little cafe, because really, can you ever go wrong with a latte and a slice of delicious homemade cake in a cute café in a quaint English town? No.

It was in this adorable little spot, filled with the soft buzz of conversation and the aroma of freshly baked pastries, that I saw them. Two of them. I swear, there is something incredibly magnetic about people wearing tutus - especially on the streets! This enchanting couple, both young and full of life, were sitting together, deep in conversation. They weren't dancers or anything, not in any obvious way. But there they were - with tutus, proudly, and with an almost infectious joy as they chattered and giggled over a shared cake. I knew I had to say hi.

As we chatted, they shared stories of their lives in Taunton, their dreams for the future, and their genuine love for ballet! One was a graphic designer, the other a writer. I was just floored by their infectious spirit - they showed me there's nothing more magical than people expressing themselves, celebrating who they are. You know, in that tutu moment. You could just feel their enthusiasm and I’m almost certain, their excitement for ballet was as contagious as my enthusiasm for pink!

They even encouraged me to dance! A little "twirl" on the pavement? It was brilliant. Honestly, a moment that encapsulated what makes this entire pink tutu adventure so special. And the locals in the café just loved it. Maybe they’ll take up ballet themselves! I truly believe anything is possible, dear friends, as long as we embrace our own individual beauty and let our joy shine through, in pink tutus, of course!

So, I must go now. The day is coming to an end. But it’s not just an end. It’s a new beginning! What will tomorrow hold? I've no idea, but I'm certain it’ll be an amazing new day filled with magical tutu moments and thrilling discoveries!

My dear Tutu Twirlers, don't forget to be bold, dance your hearts out, wear a pink tutu and always be kind.

Until next time!

Much love and a million pink twirls,

Emma

From the heart of the Peak District and now, Taunton too!

PS: For those wildlife lovers amongst you, I’ve discovered the most delightful wildlife spot just a little bit outside of town - The Somerset Levels and Moors! Keep a keen eye out for beautiful wading birds and perhaps, if you’re really lucky, the elusive otter! I spotted a gorgeous one just yesterday. Swoon
