Neath: Tutu Adventures in the Welsh Valleys

Hey darlings! It's your girl Emma here, fresh from another whirlwind of a day! I've got to say, the adventures just keep getting more exciting, and I'm not even in Paris yet! Who would have thought a pink tutu could take you to so many incredible places?

Today, my pink tutu and I ventured into the heart of the Welsh Valleys to the lovely town of Neath, a place rich in history and charm. The journey, of course, was an adventure in itself! As much as I love a sleek, high-speed train, something about taking a leisurely journey through the rolling Welsh countryside by horse and carriage always feels like a step back in time.

My trusty steed, a handsome chestnut named Chester, pulled our little carriage with a gentle sway. The crisp air carried the sweet smell of wildflowers and the soft clink of Chester’s hooves on the cobbles echoed through the valley, a gentle rhythm that felt deeply relaxing. The horses seem to understand the essence of elegance, don’t they? Just like my beloved pink tutu!

Speaking of elegance, Neath, like any Welsh town, boasts its fair share of old world charm, tucked away amidst the vibrant life of the modern world. We parked our carriage just off the high street, by the bustling Neath market. The stalls were bursting with colourful produce, their colours rivaling even the pinkest of tutus! The chatter of shoppers, the smell of fresh bread, and the cheerful tunes drifting from the market stalls created an almost musical atmosphere – a ballet of life itself!

This is why I find traveling so fulfilling! Seeing new places, meeting new people, immersing yourself in cultures and ways of life, that’s the very essence of inspiration. And when I’m feeling inspired, guess what I do? Yes, you’ve guessed it – I bust out a grand jeté in the middle of the market square! Or, in this case, a little pirouette, as the market vendors gasped and pointed with smiles on their faces.

After a delightful morning of mingling with locals and experiencing their way of life, my pink tutu and I made our way to Neath’s historic castle, standing majestically overlooking the valley. It’s a reminder of days gone by, of fierce warriors and grand gatherings. A quick, elegant twirl on the ramparts, a swoon-worthy pose on the battlements overlooking the panoramic views of Neath, and it was back to town for a ballet experience I'll never forget!

In a quaint theatre with a history almost as grand as the castle, I witnessed a performance by the Neath Ballet Academy. Oh my heavens, what grace and passion! I'm not talking about the fancy Parisian productions, I'm talking about heart and soul. It reminded me that ballet can bloom anywhere, in any corner of the world, just like my pink tutu travels everywhere.

And you know what? These lovely Welsh dancers wore a few tutus of their own! Although not a dazzling pink like mine, I have to say I was rather touched. Maybe it’s contagious – my pink tutu’s aura is spreading! My mission to make everyone twirl in pink is one step closer!

After the performance, I managed to score some incredible hand-crafted ballet shoes from a tiny shoe shop just down the road from the theatre. They’ll make a fantastic addition to my collection! And guess what? A lovely shopkeeper named Margaret, with eyes as sparkling as a well-trained ballerina, was quite smitten with my tutu! She's going to think about trying ballet, or so she says. Perhaps we'll be seeing a Neath Market ballet performance in the future – how wonderful would that be?!

Now, as the sun dips towards the horizon and casts long shadows on the Welsh valleys, I find myself perched on the train, back to Derbyshire, watching the world blur into a painting of colour. And I know what I'm dreaming about: A pink tutu, a handsome chestnut horse, and a world where everyone dances with their hearts as free as their steps! See you soon, world!

Pink Kisses,

Emma
