Bletchley Bound, A Cheap Skirt & A Ballet Dream (Post #3537)

Hello darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the home of Enigma - Bletchley! Honestly, the train ride there was almost as much fun as the visit itself. The sun was shining, a gentle breeze blew through my hair, and I was rocking a new pink tutu, naturally! 😉

It’s funny, because just before heading out, I popped into this quirky little vintage shop in Derby and found the most amazing skirt! A bargain, it was, but it had all the 50s charm, with its full skirt and vibrant red colour, perfect for adding a touch of vintage glamour to my ballet look. I paired it with my pink tutu, of course, and some sparkly ballet flats. Honestly, the skirt was a bit too much, so I decided to leave it in my travel bag until I got back to the city, where I could work some of its sassy charm into my evening plans.

Anyway, enough about my outfit – you want to hear about Bletchley, right?

I’d heard so much about the National Museum of Computing, and I was eager to see all those fascinating old computers. My favourite part was learning about how they used to crack the German Enigma code – it’s just so intriguing, that little bit of history!

And, to make my day even more brilliant, they had an exhibition about women in computer science – so inspiring! The role women played in the development of technology was just incredible, especially when you think about the limitations women faced during that time period.

After the museum, I decided to go for a stroll around Bletchley Park itself. It was absolutely gorgeous. The air was fresh, the grass was green and there were trees everywhere!

The Park itself was a fascinating mix of historic buildings and stunning natural beauty. Imagine it, this little village, in the heart of Buckinghamshire, with such a pivotal role to play in world history!

You know, when I saw those magnificent, beautiful trees, I got all misty eyed! There’s something about trees, isn’t there? I just love how they stand strong, their branches reaching out to the sky, as if to say “we’re here to provide shelter and shade for all!” They give me such a sense of peace.

Anyway, I couldn’t resist taking a picture next to one of the mighty oaks. It seemed to me, the most perfect backdrop for my pink tutu!

Before I left, I had a delightful cream tea in a quaint café overlooking the gardens. Now, what could be better than that? It felt so refreshing after all the history I’d been taking in, a true slice of British charm. The tea was delicious and the scones were even better.

Overall, I'd say my little day trip was just perfect! I'm already dreaming of planning another visit to the museum, perhaps with some ballet friends. Imagine the laughs we’d have trying out those old computer consoles! It would be the ultimate ballet day trip!

And now for the biggest news, darlings – I'm getting ready to teach a new class in the city. We’re going to be working on a contemporary ballet piece that I've been dreaming of for weeks! I can’t wait to see how everyone's going to do with it. Who knows, it might just be the start of a fabulous new dance trend.

In the meantime, I’m off to watch "The Royal Ballet's Swan Lake". You can be sure I’ll be back tomorrow with a full report of my ballet-filled day. And remember, my dear followers: Embrace the power of pink tutus! 😉

Until next time,

Your ballet buddy, Emma 🩰 💕
